Google thinks it's finally time for smartwatches. Its Android Wear collaboration with LG goes on preorder today in 12 countries

The G Watch might only be a wearable, but inside beats the heart of a smartphone... processor. Behind the 1.65-inch (280 x 280) IPS display, there's a substantial Snapdragon 400 chip -- the same Qualcomm processor found inside the Galaxy S4 Mini.

Storage weighs in at 4GB, with 512MB of memory for support, ........ There's a 400mAh battery... and LG says it's launching its own collection of bands in the near future.

ummm raw power isn't the point of a smartwatch

I'm waiting for the Razer Nabu, it'll probably be cheaper then any of these niche smart-watches by the top-end phone brands.

1st genare bad but maybe this will be better. Hopefully it's not locked down to the LG G3 only but android 4.4+ os.

They all remind me too much like these

My thoughts exactly. Both this and the Samsung one just seem too ugly to me. Give me the Moto 360!

Don't get why everyone is so in love with the moto 360, I'd rather have a square/rectangular screen, round just cuts off too much for me. If i am getting a smartwatch, i want it for form/functionality not looks

Just ducktape a tablet to your wrist then.

The 2 Android wear smartwatches released, this one and the Samsung, have terrible battery life aka "all day battery" aka 12 hours in the real world.

No one was anticipating smartwatches until rumours came out about apple making a smartwatch. At the moment, I feel the technology is too premature to be even called smart - almost all of them rely on a smartphone to get information. When a smartwatch is released from a major player which can make videocalls, connect through wifi reliably and possibly even through cellular networks, and can replace a smartphone, I would consider buying one but until then a £10 casio and a smartphone fulfill my needs just as well as a smartwatch from today and a smartphone.

Everything said by me is my humble opinion and nothing more, unless otherwise stated.
