For that price for the right person it is a steal.  Ticked off that they don't have a store in Port Huron, MI so I could have someone pick one up.

Too many ****ing games!  Back log 4 life! :S

I don't see the point of these MC threads. We all know that they have insane deals on processors, but 99% of us will never be able to get any of them.

Bear in mind that the Micro Center bundle deals no longer apply to the FX-4130, regardless of whether your get the OEM version or the retail version. Also, this is not a deal. The FX-4130 has been at this price for weeks.

Not really, unless I buy a CPU/Motherboard combo and even then MC's prices are worse than Amazon's so it would be more expensive to drive to MC and buy it there. $50 is a conservative estimate for my truck, it's a rolling brick with an asthmatic underpowered, in-efficient V6. When I did the math on the fuel cost I did it as if I would actually get 18 mpg but in all the time I've owned that truck I've never gotten 18 mpg no matter how carefully I drive. Not to mention that fact that MC doesn't even have everything I want, they don't even have a Z87 Gryphon. It has always been cheaper to buy from Amazon, I don't even consider MC because of how far away it is.

  1. Micro Center prices are, in fact, better than Amazon's prices when it comes to CPUs and, if you get the bundle deal, motherboards as well. Even if you add sales tax, Micro Center is still cheaper. This is because Micro Center loses money on CPUs in order to attract more business and make up their margin elsewhere. Yes, with your fuel costs, it would be cheaper for you to purchase on Amazon, but, for those who do not live so far away, it would be cheaper to buy at least their CPU and motherboard at Micro Center.
  2. Amazon is cheaper for most things, but supporting local business should always be encouraged; furthermore, it's much easier (and cheaper) for most people to return a defective item to a brick-and-mortar store than it is to have to ship it back to Amazon.
  3. Micro Center carries the Z87 Gryphon, as well as its thermal armor kit. Just because they may not have it in stock at a certain point in time does not mean they never have it in stock.

I was only making it known that MC doesn't work for me, of course it's a good idea for other people who are closer to one but their lower pricing is balanced out by my fuel costs so it wouldn't be cheaper for me. I also don't buy the argument that I should support my "local" business when its more expensive for me to do so.

This here is an example of what I deal with when it comes to brick and mortar stores(apologies for size)

It's also very easy to return things to Amazon because I only buy from Amazon itself and not any 3rd party and I've bought enough that they will send me prepaid shipping labels for anything. The other issue is the stock, Amazon pretty much ALWAYS has the thing your looking for in stock(unless it's older hardware then other sites are where you should go) and while they may have it eventually I couldn't even find it on their site even when I searched for all Asus products.
