Can my b365m ds3h used a m.2 nvme?

Go to solution Solved by mariushm,

The website

B365M DS3H (rev. 1.0) Specification | Motherboard - GIGABYTE U.S.A.

says the board has  1 x M.2 connector (Socket 3, M key, type 2242/2260/2280 SATA and PCIe x4/x2 SSD support)

So the M.2 connector on the board will accept any kind of M.2 ssd.

so like the title said i am buying a m.2 but i saw 2 different kinds a 3 something on the edge and 2 with the other small end like im not sure which one or is it both compatible with my motherboard? cant really tell

only know that there are some that says nvme some that has none.

It's got 1 M.2 Slot.  Basically any mainstream M.2 drive will work in it.

Those are different keying. Both are M.2. The "M" key is the one with 5 contacts then a massive contact, the "B" key is where there are 6 contacts and a massive contact, and the "M+B" key is with both. B key SSDs are relatively rare, so it's mostly just M vs. M+B. The M key drives are almost always full PCIe x4 SSDs, while the M+B key drives can either be PCIe x2 or SATA based. If you want the fastest drive you can get, odds are the M key (small contact, then big contact) drive is going to be better.

Your board does have an M.2 slot that is M keyed, so it can work with either M or M+B key drives.

The motherboard M.2 slot is compatible with both NVME and SATA drives as written in the manual. Be aware that installing a SATA M.2 drive will disable one of the SATA ports. Specifically Port 0. SATA M.2 drives are typically B&M key buit sometimes can be B Key as well, while NVME drives are typically M key, but can sometimes be B&M key as well which means they only a have a 2x PCIE interface.
