The secret to staying healthy is...

Sammael

Cut the sugar, not the fat.

Long talk, but very engaging.  Most of you are probably waif thin twigs of human beings, but you also probably have fatter relatives.  This is what they need to know.

I am impelled not to squeak like a grateful and frightened mouse, but to roar...

Not all fat is bad. Mono-saturated,  poly-saturated, Omega 3, Omega 6 are good fats. Transfat is bad. Saturated...meh.

Carbohydrates are also sugars. It's the refined sugar you want to stay away from, like the kind found in pop(soda).

Are they back at this now? Last time I checked we needed to cut the fat, not the sugar. And before that we shouldn't mix proteins and carbohydrates in a single meal.

I just found that eating whatever I want, in less quantities, worked wonders.

Then again, I'm not trying to lose weight, only to maintain my weight.

There's always a need to keep fats and carbohydrates in check at healthy levels.

I thought this was common knowledge?

You're only supposed to consume roughly 50 grams of "sugar" a day.

Most people are pretty far beyond that.

road bike?

Its a crosstrail, so its better on road than a mountain bike, but rugged enough for forest trails etc

Never heard of it, but I'm assuming it's like a cyclocross? Road handles on a mountain bike frame?

Yeah sort of that idea, the frame is lighter/thinner than a typical mountain bike frame but still very rugged, not as light as those like 2gram road bikes but they would probably snap if going off road. It has sort of chunky road tyres, not like razer thin road slicks, not chunky like mountian bike tank tracks,

Its really sweet. Only problem is I cannot find a saddle to fit my ass :/ I weight alot and obviously not the slimmest so thing hard saddles feel like sitting on a metal bar, means I have to spend as much time off the saddle as I can. Going to try a thicker gel saddle

Nice!

Road bikes aren't as flimsy as you think lol it's the wheels that probably wouldn't take anything off-road. The frame and fork are especially sturdy.

Me too, I have a terrible saddle.

No maybe not but the wheels would definitely buckle, also the tyres would have like no traction off road. Also the weight sort of works against them off road. Though great for riding on the road. My brother has a £3000 racing bike, I can pick it up with one finger haha its amazing to ride on the road

And exercise! Great video, thanks for sharing, I'll definitely try to show my parents. I've tried lots of things to get them in shape, but it seems only inception would work now.

I've been soda free for 8 years now, and caffeine free for 10. Been cutting fast food and fried food recently. It is difficult finding (and actually going through with) substitutes.

I really need to cut back on my sugar intake. I consume way too much. I think I'm gonna try and cut caffeine and refined sugar out my diet though. Got any tips? And have you noticed any advantages other than weight-loss? I'm pretty skinny and would rather not lose any weight.

Advantages I noticed were sleeping better, waking up easier, and it felt like I had more energy - or a steady usage of that energy. I didn't lose any weight, always been a bit of a bean pole at 70kg. I quit caffeine right after a very bad energy drink experience, soda came a bit later when I realized I could save a lot of money by axing all of it. Fast food places are bad enough, but going there while trying to quit soda is terrible. Who wants water (especially the toilet water they offer to sway you to soda) at a fast food joint? So tips would be to avoid fast food and corner stores, or carry your own water with you. It can be tempting to replace the missing tasty drink with juice or sports drinks, but those too are heavy in sugar or sweeteners. I'm down to water only, but that's admittedly pretty boring.

Genetics.

Sorry, there are no secrets. Well, there are things to preserve health, but it's all genetics. People can exercise every day, eat healthy and still die of a heart attack young. Likewise, someone can be a slob, smoke 10 packs of cigs a day, drink lots of beer and live to a ripe old age somehow. Then there are freak accidents like being ran over by a car with failed brakes at a bus stop. Life is a gamble. You live it, not worry about how.

I eat moderately healthy. (Vegetables and meat a lot) but also fries sometimes and I drink alcohol in the weekends and I drink soda too.

I am overweight, went to the gym in the past for 3-4 years straight, quit, now am picking it up again (and boy my muscles are destroyed)

I found this out:

I really don't give a fuck, I eat everything I want, just in smaller quantities, and it's helping and I already lost weight.

There is no '1 secret'. Moderation is key.
