I need a new phone.

JordB

Based on all your requirements, I'd like to see you everyday a current iPhone SE. And I'm eating the same dog food, I'm on my second SE (version 2 and version 3) and they are great. Low cost, light weight, fingerprint reader, etc. Everyone reviews the flagship phones, but nobody hardly ever does long term SE reviews. The display isn't on at all times, but all you have to do is lift it.

The DOOGEE V20 Pro (Orange) seems like A great option for quality and the much needed durability. I've seen a few recommendations for the DOOGEE V MAX but the colour scheme doesn't seem quite right.

As long as the Fairephone 5 is not available in North America, and to have an interesting review (and not yet again a review of iPhone<number><size> or Galaxy <size/form><number>)

I would suggest the Zenphone 10: small form factor, headphones jack, reasonable overall package and yet to few in depth review.

Thanks to an unexpected dip in the pool, Linus' trusty Z Fold 3 is out of commission, and he needs YOUR help picking his next phone!

I think the Google Pixel 8 pro would be good. Nice security features and hardware, flat screen (easier to protect and use screen protector). Battery life should be interesting, especially with the LTPO 1-120 hrtz screen. 27w in "fast" charging (but mostly a 15w).  Photo and video will be great and capacity to remove unwanted audio sound from your video easily (still to explore). So you can hear your kid laugh and not your neighbour yelling.

I would suggest a CAT s75

https://www.catphones.com/en-gb/cat-s75/

I guess if Linus can destroy this one. CAT will have to rethink how they make their phones.

It will also be a good way to test how Satellite phones work.

I'd prefer the Sony Xperia 1 V. It has pretty good battery backup, 3.5mm jack, amazing camera, really comfortable to use due to it's 21:9 aspect ratio which makes it narrow and tall. It also has the "creator mode" which provides a reproduction of the creator's intended vision, pretty sure you know all this. Also you can take a look at the Xperia 5 V if you want way more battery backup. Hope this helps you!

Also you'll get the dedicated camera shutter button on these devices.

This is probably the least expensive thing Linus has dropped if we count the 3090s, i9s and WHOLE PCS

then again he did literally drop himself

But what I’m still wondering is why and how Linus did that in the first place

On purpose.

Wait. How is wireless charging bad for longevity of battery life? I thought that was a 'slow' charging method? Heat?

For someone who drops his phone regularly and cares about repairability I would strongly recommend the fairphone 5.

As a Fold3 owner that thing has a problem. I hate the size in my pants and it is an always 2 handed phone. But in use you get used to that bigscreen, opening stuff on my wifes phone (iphone) i have to scroll pinch scroll more. Fold when in use is just a laptop.

So that is my problem. I know that the screen will crack one day because it will not fold forever. And I really want a phone that you dont feel as much in you pants or less heavy. But that complete pack is also nice to have.

Recomendation:

Get the Fold and have that all in one enterprise level and custom apps. Also dex for on vacation.

Or

Get the iPhone with the full apple service. Break it, walk to store and get new one. Sign in and done.

But with iPhone always ask youself when walking out the door, do i need a laptop for today.

Cheers Michael

What about actual model of iPhone SE?

I believe it is the 3rd gen. It is basically an iPhone 8 with an A15 and 5g. It is the iPhone for those who will always prioritize a physical home button.

Edit: And They want to stay on IOS.

I'm in the same boat tbf. My S21+ has been round the block a bit and is struggling to charge and is quite physically damaged.

I'm getting to a point in my life where I'm not caring much about all the Android customisation to the point where for the last year I've been using a launcher that actually has less customisation than the default Samsung launcher.

I'm being tempted by the iPhone 15 Pro. It would be my first iPhone, but I've been incredibly impressed by how well the iPad I bought in 2017 is STILL holding up and a joy to use, so if their phones are similar then it seems an obvious choice. Sure there's a premium for the Apple logo, but I'm at a stage in life where I would pay that if it means I don't need to think about a new phone again for 4 years, rather than every 2 years that seems to be the reality with the various Android phones I've had over the years.
