  • 3 weeks later...

Although my dad guided me and helped a fair bit (as well as giving me the PC building bug!), I built my first when I was about 11 years old. As one would imagine, it was very garish with a completely transparent acrylic tower with multi colour rainbow leds and a UV cold cathode :P

I was 12.

It was a cheap IBM think centre from eBay that cooked the hard drive every month so I modded it by cutting a hole in the top of the case and hot gluing a fan on it. Then it kept snow-balling into pulling it out of the case, onto my bare desk, adding a Hyper 212+, and a solid Seagate HDD.

I was 16 at the time when i first built mine. Took me almost a whole day but it worked, only needed a Little help to screw stuff in. I remember i must have not inserted the graphics card in properly, had beep codes then had Mistaken it for faulty ram which after a bit of troubleshooting i eventually found out lol :P

Technically my official first computer build was about 1 year and 8 months ago, but I got my very first computer way back in 2001 or 2002. I was 11 and it was a custom pre-built PC but I can't remember the full spec exactly, all I remember was it had Pentium 4, 256MB of RAM, and 40GB of storage or something, and my favorite games were Vietcong and Medal of Honor : Allied Assault.
