Show off Your Setup! (Rev.2)

LogicalDrm

This is my whole office setup, both my PC and just my office in general, the PC Specs are

    Ryzen 9 3900X
    ASUS ROG STRIX X 470 F
    Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 3200mhz DDR4
    EVGA 2080 FTW3
    NZXT H7 Flow
    1 X WD 1TB HDD
    2 X Seagate 2TB HDD
    1 Silicon Power 256gb SSD
    1 WD Blue 500GB NVME
    EVGA 850 BQ
LG 27GN800-B Ultragear Gaming Monitor 27" QHD
    Acer KG241Q Pbiip 23.6" Full HD (1920 x 1080) TN 144Hz

   Samsung A6 Tablet

The laptop below is the 4th display and I'll put more about that down below
    Cooling
    Cooler Master Hyper 212
6 Deep Cool ARGB 120MM Fans (3 On rad, 1 in the back, 2 on top.)
    Logitech G915TKL
    Logitech G502 Lightspeed
    Scarlet Focus Rite Solo
    Audio-Technica AT2020
    Logitech G535 Wireless
    Operating System
    Windows 11

The laptop is an MSI GF63 it is the I5 1550ti variant great gaming laptop tbh but I use it more as an extra display

For the tablet and the laptop I use a program that I highly recommend to people called Space-desk, its a display over network service that's completely free for commercial use, and with my internet connection it does super well, and I have never really had any connectivity issues except for when Space-desk has an update available, but once the update is done its right back, I've got it going constantly too, and it hasn't put much weight on my bandwidth, the resolution is dependent on the device you're using as a display, sorry this is starting to sound like I'm shilling but either way I highly recommend checking it out, it works amazingly well and I've never seen a better solution for this, and it doesn't seem to put a whole lot of load on the PC either.

My wallpapers are all through Wallpaper Engine, and I also use Steel series Sonar for audio management when I'm streaming and while it doesn't have any shortcuts for the stream deck its super easy to set up macros that handle my volume mix and there's a great streamer mode but I haven't really touched it much.

The little tabletop arcade cabinet, is running a Pandora's Box DX that was a huge upgrade from the Pandora's Box 4, I'm currently sitting at like 1003 games but its not been used in a while due to needing a new power supply and the cabinet itself needing some work

I have a HTC Vive for my VR setup and recently I purchased the Index controllers as I'm slowly looking to turn my vive setup to an index one now that I have the knowledge that I can use the index with the vive light houses, I mostly just use it for VRChat and Blades and Sorcery.

I also have a Thrustmaster steering wheel and pedal set that I use to play Assetto Corsa so like if anyone wants to teach me to be better at racing in AC I'd appreciate it because I'm pretty awful.

Ummm my current primary browser is Opera GX but I'm probably switching back to Firefox because I've been using it more and more lately

and lastly the chair is a Serta Executive and it is better then any gaming chair I've ever sat in especially as someone on the big and tall spectrum.

My setup in 2022 vs. my setup now. I've made a few upgrades the last two years.  (Something something glowup something something)

2022

Dell Inspiron 15z (2013?): i5-3337U, Intel Iris Plus, 6 GB RAM

MacBook Air 13 (2020) (work laptop)

Mouse: Logitech M325S

Mouse pad: One I got for free probably around 10 years before this pic was taken (I know, eew)

Phone: iPhone SE 2020 (for a while, this was the newest and nicest piece of tech I owned...)

Earphones: Phillips (SHE3590?)

Headphones: Sony MDR-XB950B1 (not pictured)

"Desk": my parents' former dining room table

Chair: one I got for free from a friend who was moving (not pictured)

Jokes aside, I'm actually proud of keeping this cheap bastard frugal setup as long as it met my needs.

2024

Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 (2023): saying this is the best computer I've ever owned by far, still isn't doing it justice (though I've had it for less than a week)
i7-13620H
16 GB DDR4 RAM
RTX 4060

MacBook Pro 13 (2020) (work laptop, not pictured): I inherited it from my former supervisor, since my new supervisor wanted Windows, luckily for me

Monitor: Asus VA24EQSB

Mouse: Logitech MX Master 3s

Mouse 2: Logitech M720 (not pictured)

Mouse pad: Logitech desk pad

Keyboard: Powzan KB770

Phone: same iPhone (not pictured because I used it to take the picture)

Earphones 1: Moondrop Chu II

Earphones 2: Final E1000C (not pictured): researching earphones to buy led me down the IEM rabbit hole, but I stopped myself after only getting 2 inexpensive pairs

Headphones: same ones (still not pictured)

"Desk": still my parent's former dining room table

Chair: a basic office chair, was more comfortable than the ergonomic and gaming chairs I tried (not pictured)

PAD controller: Akai LPD8 MK2 (an awesome gift that I still need to learn how to really use)

My magnet board got an upgrade too.

Well it's been a long time since I showed off my setup. Never showed my current setup properly. Now I would say that I have one of the more special setups:

First the PC, originally built in fall of 2021 and so far I have upgraded the CPU from the 5800X to the 5800X3D as well as added the Noctua Fan Hub and the 4 Pin PWM extension Cables for the Noctua Fans. Will then also Upgrade the GPU from the RTX 3060 to the Sapphire Radeon RX 7900 XTX Pulse once I have more money again. Once I do that I'll also get two more 8 Pin PCIe Custom Cables from CableMod in my color scheme along side a Custom length Sata Power Cable for the Noctua Fan Hub:

Sitag height adjustable Desk from 64 to 129cm. Desk Surface is 180 x 90 cm. (Bought used)

Herman Miller Aeron Chair. (Bought used)

Foot rest I built myself in High School in Arts & Crafts

Nice heavy duty Drawer which is literally full of Tech

GamersNexus Volt ModMat, signed by Steve.

Dyson Pure Cool Me

Xiaomi LED Desk Lamp

Some cheap digital Thermometer

Cable Box (I have 5 of these, 4 are in use in my room lol)

Simple TP-link 8 port unmanaged Gigabit Switch. I have 3 of them, one is in the TV Cabinet and the other is in my Nightstand.

3m USB C 3.2 Cable and 3m USB 3.0 type A extension Cable with a simple Icy Box USB Hub plugged into it going down to my Tower.

The Tower setup on the floor:

2024-02-09-06-09-46-283_1.thumb.jpg.c164b06eec7ef2e9c88743961e5fea1e.jpg

Coming down from the top side of the Desk are 4 Cables: Power, Ethernet, USB C and USB A extension Cables:

2024-02-09-06-10-10-654_1.thumb.jpg.4413ea859dd946e31dad2e0bf627ce3e.jpg

On the front of the Tower I have two more of the 3m USB 3.0 type A extension Cables managed together with LTT Cable ties for the Cable of my Roccat Sova Keyboard because the Cable wouldn't otherwise reach from my Bed to the Tower:

2024-02-09-06-10-56-540_1.thumb.jpg.bdbb3fa5fc9cf1725351152611c19089.jpg

Everything nicely Cable managed:

2024-02-09-06-10-32-355_1.thumb.jpg.a1226f57a82cacb55fb7a2ecfb3d9547.jpg

The 5m HDMI 2.1 Cable from Club3D is running along the Wall with Ethernet behind the Fridge up into my TV:

2024-02-09-06-11-18-814_1.thumb.jpg.0547b267bb81e885e84b6b5f01b879b3.jpg

Getting a Fridge for my room has been one of the best things I've ever done:

2024-02-09-06-11-39-114_1.thumb.jpg.a2e813303f26967cc9ae1cb0956b4bd5.jpg

It's a 110L Kibernetik without a freezer for those wondering.

Also plugged into the TV via HDMI are the Steamdeck via the Steamdeck Dock and the Raspberry Pi 4:

2024-02-09-06-12-00-803_1.thumb.jpg.975b1cd090cf19e71a23ef1021d8230a.jpg

The TV is the LG OLED55CX (55", 4K, OLED, 120Hz):

2024-02-09-06-16-28-951_1.thumb.jpg.d0dd72245d035605846576068834b4ad.jpg

This is still the single most expensive piece of Tech I own which I bought myself. My E-Bike was technically more expensive but my parents bought it for me so I don't count that. Also once you go OLED you never go back.

Inside the TV Cabinet where my Steamdeck lives on top of the Steamdeck Dock:

2024-02-09-06-31-06-328_1.thumb.jpg.7a4c29ee8c7971aefb84a12b2121825f.jpg

It's the OG LCD "64 GB" Deck which was upgraded to the "512 GB" LCD Screen. It has Skin, Screen protector, Stick Grips and the Killswitch Case with the Dock accessories from dbrand. I also have 5 1TB Lexar Play Micro SD Cards for it with my whole Steam Library on them.

Also in here we have my Printer, another Switch and behind the Deck is the Pi 4. On the below level on the right is also my "charging Station" with a Pine 64 Desktop Power Supply and the proprietary chargers for all the things.

On the left of the TV Cabinet which btw I've also built myself in Highschool:

2024-02-09-06-16-49-266_1.thumb.jpg.e50f81ca372c1e8a0dd1de366cee7ba9.jpg

Cables everywhere you look but they're all neatly managed.

My peripherals of choice:

2024-02-10-00-41-09-140_1.thumb.jpg.186189cc1fd1ac10e7f277f618d8e8c5.jpg

Roccat Sova Keyboard (so glad that I was able to find & buy this back in 2021), Logitech MX Master 3 aka IMO the best Multi Media Mouse there is and I also Game with it and it's great, Sony WH-1000XM4 Headphones with the ModMic Magnetic attachment on the left Ear Cup

My Bed setup:

2024-02-10-00-41-59-586_1.thumb.jpg.3ade64ad7047ba6fda198dbe8000370e.jpg

Wired into my Nightstand are Ethernet and a Valve USB C 45 W Power Supply (I have 4 of those, they're amazing lol)

On the Nightstand I always have: TV Remote, GamersNexus Coster (I have both Coster packs) ontop of which is my favorite type of Ice Tea which is this Peach Ice Tea, my Yubico Yubikey 5Ci (also have the 5c and the 5 Nano, all are mirrored), Antlion ModMic Wireless (such an amazing Mic) and the thing I took all of these pictures with: My Fairphone 4 (running LineageOS, soon to be the De-Googled Version)

And also a big LTT Couchripper Pillow, also have the OG LTT CPU Pillow.

And the money shot:

2024-02-10-01-12-39-515_1.thumb.jpg.744e73963728fab14bed36e5414ef97d.jpg

I wear T-Shirt and Shorts all year round Inside so that's why the Short Socks lol

Out of all the setups I've had over the years this one is definitely the most comfortable.

So next up I'll Upgrade the GPU and also the SSDs so that I'll have more Storage and then finish building out my Desk setup by buying a new second Gen QD-OLED Monitor and a good IPS Display as a secondary Vertical Monitor. I already have everything else I'll need to build a proper Desk setup.

It's been 3 years now since I've had a Desk setup, before having built the Desktop my Desk setup consisted of my Notebook on a Notebook stand with the Logitech MX Keys Keyboard (which I've since sold) and the MX 3 Mouse on a small Cooler master Mousepad. My Notebook currently just lives in my drawer.

If you wanna know what else I have or have owned over the years then click into my Signature and go to my Profile and About Me section to look at that ⬇️

You can take a look at all of the Tech that I own and have owned over the years in my About Me section and on my Profile.

I'm Swiss and my Mother language is Swiss German of course, I speak the Aargauer dialect. If you want to watch a great video about Swiss German which explains the language and outlines the Basics, then click here.

If I could just play Videogames and consume Cool Content all day long for the rest of my life, then that would be sick.

I had for a long time wanted to build my dream multi purpose dual system, that could do any thing i need it to deo. Gaming, be a fast workstation and so on. So i deside to forfil my dream and challenges my self to build something diffrent than your normal every day pc. Building two fully working pc´s inside 1 case and bofh machines powered by 1 PSU alone. The result can be seen in the pictures below and some of those custom made things as well, you can´t see all the custom parts i made for this project as they are hiden away or just not visable. I choose to keep it all aircooled, as it seem cpu´s after Zen 3 from bofh intel and AMD need´s water cooling do to the high power consumption nad core clocks, they get a lot hotter than exsample Zen 3. So this is proporly my last all aircooled pc.

I am currently finishing my masters in Electrical Engineering, and I work on machine learning/AI models pretty much all day everyday. We recently sold the farm (literally) so I built a new workstation to help with my modeling. Honestly, I don't have much time for gaming anymore but I bet this thing would game like a beast 🤣

Computer specs:

Threadripper 7970X, ASUS TRX50-SAGE WIFI mobo, 2x MSI RTX 4090's with EK full coverage blocks, 128GB DDR5 at 6000 MHz, 1x Sabarent Rocket 8TB, 1x Samsung 990 Pro 4TB, Seasonic Prime ATX 3.0 PX-1600 PSU, Case: Corsair 7000D Air-Flow, Fans (All Noctua): 7x NF-A12x25, 4x NF-A12x15, 1x NF-A14.

I am actually fairly proud of the amount of radiators I was able to fit in this case. Mainly putting this out here incase anyone else is curious about what is possible as far as radiators in the 7000D, as this config is definitely not officially supported. They are all EK "White" radiators: 1x P360 X-Flow (Top), 1x P480(Front), 1x S480 (Side), 1x S140 (Rear).

A few mods had to be made: I had to do a little "clearancing" with a Dremel tool on the rear top 120mm fan to get the fittings to....fit. Next, EK's vertical pump mount would (just barely) not fit when mounted to the front rad, as it caused the pump to hit the basement cover. Instead of bolting the pump to the face of the mount as it was intended I cut a larger slot in the mounting bracket and bolted the pump to "backside" of the mount. This gave enough room to fit the pump/res. Due to the length of the EK 480mm rad up front I had to do a also had to give the mounting bracket for the 7000D a little bit of a workover with the Dremel as well. Finally, the original PCI-Express slot metal brackets of the 4090's were triple slot. I wanted to be able to fit the GPU's in the top two slots so that I can use the other slots for more expandability. So I cut down the PCI-Express brackets to dual slot.

Also, I really wanted a distro block for the 4090's but after contacting EK they apparently do not (currently) make a distro block for the their "Vector2" blocks. And because this thing will most likely be getting a set of 5090's whenever they come out, I opted to go with soft-tubing so that it's easy to change out later.

While you'll are flexing your builds that cost more than my house! Here is MINE

It packs a rocking

*Rx570 gigabyte 8g

*I5 2500

*Main pc is the Dell optiplex 790

*4gb ddr3 ram @ 1600mhz

*cosair tx 650w psu (more than enough to power my neighboneighbourhood)

*500gigs of hard disk drive that runs slower than my grandma

First build BTW after years of dreaming of a pc and hours of playing games with lower graphics than a blind fish in black water.

oof, you don't have an SSD ? Sata 3 SSDs are dirt cheap nowadays, that's a no brainer Upgrade you should definitely do right away.

Cheap! Yess, in my country noo.

A laptops hdd runs faster than the one on my pc

I put my usb external hard drive and was doing some thing and i checked to see the latency of both, the usb one avrages less than 7ms but the one on my pc sometimes goes upto 600ms. And both are underload when i tested.

Dont let me started with extracting games 💀 gta 5 took almost an hour if not more i lost count. But before i had the pc i used to gave a laptop and gta 5 extracts in around 20minutes.

Anyways im greatfull for having the pc, i would eventually upgrade it little by little.

EDIT: should i swap the hardrive and use a laptop one instead since it runs faster and has faster RPM (7500 over 5500), but usb are fragile and vulnerable to disconnecting unlike sata.

Alright man thanks for the opinion but what do you think about the disconnection vulnerability of the usb?

Why would you use USB to connect one of the HDDs to your PC ? If you want to use both of them just hook them up with Sata.

Take the HDD out of the case and connect it directly to SATA.
Then you also have a free SATA-to-USB adapter. 😉

Congratulations on your first build. You only have 4GB of RAM? Would be much better if you managed to get another 4GB stick (8GB total), just a suggestion.

And I'm using a similar aged PC as my main PC:

Acer IPISB-CH motherboard from Acer Aspire M1930 (bought brand new in May 2012, my first PC)

Intel Xeon E3 1270 3.4GHz (AeroCool cooler with Noctua fan, but every time I turn my PC on it shows "CPU fan error", fan works just fine after that)

16GB DDR3 (2x8GB sticks) 1600MHz (but running at 1333MHz)

Gainward nVidia GeForce GTX1060 6GB Phoenix

Crucial MX500 250GB (main OS Windows 7 and second OS Windows 11 are on it)

2x1TB HDDs (almost full, have ordered a 2TB HDD and a Crucial BX500 1TB SSD to replace these HDDs)

CoolerMaster Silencio 352M case

Seasonic M12II-520 EVO 520W PSU (fully modular, but there's still a mess of cables)

pxo1UTF.jpg

And my secondary PC is my newest and most powerful PC with:

MSI H81M-P33 motherboard
Intel Core i7-4790 3.6GHz with DeepCool Ice Edge Mini FS v2
16GB DDR3 1866MHz Dual-channel running at 1600MHz

Palit nVidia GeForce GTX1070ti 8GB, but I bought it (last week) with non original fans, it was very cheap (140BGN ~$78 and normal such cards are twice as much), I replaced the fans with different ones (a few hours ago), since the ones that came with the card were too thick and I couldn't use my USB 3.0 card for my front USB 3.0 ports hidden in the lower DVD bay

WD Green 120GB SSD for the OS - Windows 11
Seagate 1TB for storage
The case from the Acer Aspire M1930 PC
Seasonic B12 BC-550 550W PSU

Wow i like how black the inside of your first pc is! It brings out the contact of the exhaust fan, pc fan and the gpu toon, well im abit on your range i guess.

Yeah someday bro, the game is just getting started and we shall oneday look back and smug and saying "i remember when i used to have a PC like that, does times were gems".

Literally i remember having a crapy laptop with Windows vista and 1gb ram 32bit with some ancient nvidia graphics that cant even render 32bit colours only 16bit.

If now you where to go back and tell me i would build a pc in 2024! I would go crazy and not believe you , i remember does times that i would wake up as early in the morning just to watch one of my youtuber that does some great GTA 5 videos!!! ABSOLUTE GEM!.

Sweet rig.

Couple questions that sparked my curiosity:

- Are you a full time windows user, or is it a dual boot machine? Asking because from my personal experience the performance hit on windows for ML stuff is pretty significant.

- Are those 128gb of RAM enough for you? Often I feel like my 128gb can't keep my 2x3090 well fed when I have a somewhat larger pipeline, forcing me to do all data processing before jumping into the actual training.

Thanks. Honestly the case I got as a present from my parents in October 2016 (or at least that's when we ordered it, it actually arrived beggining of November). The rear case fan I chose because it was the cheapest 120mm 3 pin fan I could find at the store, didn't even think about how it looked, though I admit I like how it looks. The Nocuta fan I bought very cheap second hand a few months ago. The GPU I chose because it was the cheapest second hand GTX1060 6GB I could find, the logo on the side actually has lights. But all of this (and most imprortantly the mess of cables) is completely hidden once I put the solid sidepanel on.

And your GPU should have similar performance to mine, at least that's in similar range performance wise and the rest is the same age (until a few months ago my main PCs CPU was Intel Core i7 2600s 2.8GHz that was an upgrade from i5 2320 3GHz which was an upgrade from the first CPU of this PC - Intel Celeron G530 2.4GHz).

I remember the first time playing GTA V on my PC back in 2015 (it had Intel Celeron G530 2.4GHz, 8GB DDR3 and AMD Radeon HD7470 2GB) - it ran at like 15FPS on minimum settings, but I didn't care since I was playing the game (it was extremely hard to play this way, you press a button and there's a second, yes a full second delay, I thought I'm just very bad at this game, turns out when the game is running with playable FPS I'm not that bad). If back in 2012 someone had told me I'd have 10 PCs and 10 laptops (roughly) and two of the PCs will have decent parts and I will be able to play demanding games without problems; that I would have two PCs with 4c/8t CPUs, a laptop with 6c/12t, a laptop with 4c/8t, etc. I wouldn't believe you. I mean just 12 years ago I thought that a DUAL-core CPU, 4GB RAM and 1TB HDD is a beast of a PC and I would never need to upgrade it... oh, how wrong I was. To be fair before I bought my first PC I was using the family PC with AMD Sempron 2500+ 1.75GHz, 1GB DDR RAM, ATi Radeon A9550 128MB and 80GB IDE HDD running XP, so it was a pretty significant upgrade for me.

Nowadays I can afford to buy a brand new PC with pretty good specs, but I don't want to since the PCs I have are good enough and I'm happy with their performance. Though I bought a brand new laptop to use at work (HP ProBook 455 G9 - Ryzen 5 5625U, 16GB DDR4, 1TB NVMe SSD, Win 11).

Good luck to you! Hopefully you manage to upgrade your PC as much as you want.

Thats called achievements bro.

Playing games with terrible graphics and low fps made us to think we are bad at the game but now i think of it as a training session and as soon as we got a pc we get to unleash our full potential. In some situations you get amazed on how good you are compaired to before thinking you are bad.

Good luck on the journey buddy.
