Need Help With Chosing A Graphics Card

If you have the reference R9 290, then yes, it'd run hot. I'd stated before that AMD slapped on a cooler that was not up to the task of cooling the beast. With 3rd party cooling, temps would perhaps be higher than their nVidia counterparts, but nowhere in the region of 95C. With good 3rd party cooling like those on the Sapphire Tri-X, Asus DCU II, PowerColor PCS+/TurboDuo, etc, you should be seeing about 70C to 75C under load. Of course, airflow must be pretty decent in your case for optimum cooling. BTW, not being a grammar nazi, but it is spelled as 'right', not 'wright'. Sorry, that was bothering me a little....

i just wish one of you @GamerDude or@LawrenceBarnes2013 ,make it Right and apologize to itch other because it seems like you too have had it from itch other ,

any way thnx for the feedback ,and i just got a deal on a Lightning GTX 780 , i'll get my hands on  it this evening

Good for you, enjoy that card.......btw, it's between him and me, don't try to mediate, it won't work because I can't stand the guy so I've put him on my 'ignore' list.

i think it does ,because i used a dell 23" and saw some performance drop when i switched my 39" LED TV ,or is it just me ????

From the PC's point of view 1920x1080 is the same whatever size monitor or tv you're viewing on. It *looks* better on a small screen because the dpi is higher.

Being a techie is always good, but I can't stand fanboys.....and he's hardcore. It's OK to prefer one over another, I prefer AMD over nVidia, but do you see me posting crap about nVidia? With this guy, he harps about the R9 290/290X heat issue, but we all know that the heat issue exists only for the reference model, 3rd party cooled models do NOT have this issue (IF he's in fact a techie, he should be well aware of this). He deliberately vilifies AMD, I don't understand peeps like him, while I find it perfectly acceptable to praise the product one likes, I find it deplorable that one needs to put down the 'enemy' at the same time. Why must they feel a need to trash talk the 'enemy' at all? Does he want nVidia to be the only card maker? Would he be happy paying 650USD for a GTX780 like before the R9 290 series was launched? If AMD weren't competing, I guess a GTX780 Ti would be....what? 800USD? 900USD? Competition is good for us consumers, it keeps the price real.

Look at my posts here in the forum, do you see me talking crap about nVidia? In fact, you can see some posts where I'd recommend nVidia, and discuss one nVidia card compared to another. You don't see me doing like him, barging in and trash talking one while praising the other to high heaven. I'm a techie, I reason with and discuss, ain't got time for fanboys....or rather, blind fanboys. I'd rather spare myself the aggravation and ignore the them......
