If it was a mainstream thing, I would probably say porn.

But it did exist, internet speeds just sucked balls back then where it'd take several minutes just to load a "high res" image.

Iguess we came to a small conclusion here.

Be much easy than trying to do it to the morning garden show I guess, or even worse some day time k....nope, not going there.

Back in the day before torrents we still had pirating. A group of friends would get together and all set up their own private FTP servers and give limited access to people we trusted. It was not nearly as fast as it is these days, but it was pretty amazing. Also, we grew as a community and would help each other out all the time. Those were the good ole days.

It did, ROMS and Emulators were huge back then. Well maybe 15 years ago.

Actually it did.

You just had to know where to look and or be invited.

Sharing stuff has been around since the early 80's.....BBS's...IRC....USENET.....FTP....ICQ......Swapping floppies...ROM's

Swapping music was done on cassettes in 70's.

I ran a BBS in the 80's.

And yes, the whole... Piracy is going to lead to the end of the world crap being spewed was way back then and earlier

When Dual-Cassette decks came out the record companies freaked out and wanted them banned.

VHS is going to kill the movie industry....blah blah blah.

  • 1 month later...

Usenet was there among other things, it was in no way as easy to use for files as it is now thanks to newzbin and the .nzb (rest in peace nb2) but it was possible to file share then.
