I am getting pretty fucking sick and tired of the "watch something else" responses. It's such a cop out answer because you could say that about basically anything, and it doesn't address the actual complaints. People use it as some kind of card they pull when they can't actually respond to the criticism raised but they still feel like they need to defend some company/person. If you don't like this thread then stop reading it. See how stupid it is? It's basically like telling someone "shut the fuck up". It's not a clever responsive, it doesn't address anything said, and it is rude.

"Adblock Plus" and "I don't care about cookies" are essentials imo if you want to make the current internet actually useable. I couldn't have imagined they'd actually manage to invent something more annoying than ads. They did it when cookie conscent popups were introduced.

(They're even installed on our work computers)

Speaking of: Someone have any tips on how to get rid of "disable Adblock" popups that restrict access to some sites when it's enabled?

Other than that "Return YouTube dislike" and "LastPass".

Also had "Honey", but after about a year without saving me a cent i got rid of it again.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

only one i have is metamask for firefox. i don't need extensions because they never prove to be useful. Only reason i have metamask is because i couldn't find a full node for ETH like BTC core, RVN core so metamask seems to be the most reliable. 6 years in and no issues with it so i guess its good.

The top one is the best. I can access any news site that is blocked behind a paywall. Which is great because most of Australia's Main Stream News sites are controlled by the Mudoch empire. Not giving that old prick any money is great.

Every web browser I use has at least uBlock Origin and Cookie AutoDelete. I recently started using Dark Reader too and it's amazing.

Also, I always laugh when I see "Ghostery" mentioned anywhere because It just reminds me of this email they sent me one day where they CC'd instead of BCC'd about 500 people. The email contents make it even funnier.

"Fraidycat" is my big favourite https://fraidyc.at/ definitely my most used anyway, always recommending it to my friends.

Helped me in a big way in reducing my social media doomscrolling by replacing it with doomscrolling news sites' rss feeds instead 👍

U-block origin and Privacy Badger are two of the first things i add to a new browser.

Https Everywhere was in that group, but i believe EFF are now deprecating it.

Firefox and Chrome have built in 'enforce https' options now anyway (which you can bypass on a site-by-site basis)

https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2021/09/electronic-frontier-foundation-will-deprecate-https-everywhere-plugin/

I really like Firefox's "Multi-Account Containers" as well, for containing cookies (especially for social media logins)

Shout outs to Dark Reader and Bitwarden too.

I have "Turbo Download Manager (3rd edition)" installed as well, but i don't know if i've noticed that much of a difference with it.

I was using "Zoom Redirector" when zoom was a big thing to use the web version instead of having to install it.

And Wayback machine have a cool extension that when you hit a 404 page, it'll try grab an archived version.

Although i ended up disabling it, because does re-direct away from the site if it can't find anything.
