What are some cryptocurrencies worth investing in?

So I made the mistake of not getting into crypto early on when it was cheap and now one BTC is going for thousands and thousands of dollars. I can't afford Ethereum either so I was wondering if there any cheap cryptocurrencies worth investing in that have a bright future. Also, I'm well aware that when it comes to crypto, nothing is certain, but I'd like to give it a go.

Haha. Who knows. Buy Doge. At least it's cheap and Musk has mentioned it once, so it might increase in price. 

 

One of my friends just takes $100 from each paycheck and buys that amount of some random coin. Could always try that.

well, you seem to have a misconception. You don't have to buy the full coin, it doesn't matter the price # of the coin, just the % changes from when you buy. You can buy 0.001 eth or 0.01 BTC if you want. Depends on the broker you go through. ETH is well worth investing in.

Like others have said you can buy a fraction of a coin if you want. IMO only HODL bitcoin and trade the rest. Many coins don't bring any new functionality or a utility so they are solely based upon a large enough community agreeing it has value. Which is not something you should base solely base your monetary system around. Bitcoin is the safest option with etheruem a close second but ETH is becoming very political and new legislative rules are only applicable to Bitcoin. So bitcoin may become the new standard and other alt-coins fade away or become banned. To the people who still think crypto is a scam or don't believe it they need to brush up on economics and the monetary systems as they don't understand how things work currently.

i keep 90% of my portoflio in stocks or stock related deriviatives(LEAPS option contracts). 10% in crytos. cryptos should be think of like gold. You buy them as a different asset class unrelated to the stock market. 

 

For cryptos, 50% of my portfolio is to etherum for buy and hold(Which i also loan out for 6.7% interest). Alt coins are too risky for long term play. remaining of my 50% are locked in BNB coins which i used for yield farming on defi platfroms. 

 

However in my opionion, 90% of your portfolio should just be invested into low fee vanguard index fund in a tax adavantage account and just forget it until retirement age. Remaining 10% are your play money which you can use for risky investments or just plain out gambling at Las Vegas lol

If you want to get into the crypto game? Take a small amount of disposable cash (meaning if the coin tanks and you lose all your money, it won't hurt you financially) and buy a bit of ETH and BTC.

 

You could take an even smaller amount and put it into Meme Coins (basically all the rest) of you really want, but treat all of that money as if it's gone.

Don't even buy direct stocks unless you know what you're doing (and even then, make it a very small percentage of your portfolio - like 5% of it).

 

If you want to self-manage, buy well diversified ETF's. In Canada, that would be something like VRGO or XEQT.

 

Otherwise the best thing for your average person to do is invest into a robo-investor like WealthSimple Invest (or comparables) with a portfolio that matches your risk tolerance.

 

I do own individual stocks too - some tech companies that I really like, some high performance "blue collar" stocks, some well paying dividend stocks, and post importantly, bank stocks. But most of my investments go into a robo-investor.
