1440p 144hz, I'm on a 3070 XC3 Ultra.

I stream and run (the games I play) on ultra, ray tracing on and occasionally DLSS on quality as long as if it does get to blurry of course.

NVENC should be perfectly fine. GPU to GPU. I run my stream this way.

x264 is more CPU core heavy going from CPU to memory to GPU.

Also recommend OBS. 🙂 when setting up stream.

No one can really make that decision for you, it depends entirely on what your preference is.

Do you want a competetive advantage, and smoother gameplay? Go for 240hz.

Do you want much better image quality, while still getting a reasonable refresh rate? 1440p.

Of course, you could also go for something like the LG 27GP850, a 1440p 180hz panel.

That's something in between the two, keeping the higher image quality while getting a higher refresh rate.

Only you can really know what suits you.

Absolutely 1440p. It’s almost 2022, don’t buy 1080p displays anymore it’s such a low resolution.

Especially with a 3080, it would be massively underutilized at that res and depending on your CPU, that could be problematic for smooth gameplay.

i understand, but i dont play games for visual - I play csgo/apex legends competitively and would love to juice all the little fps out of it.

It's just 1440ps are very expensive rn.

Yet you got a 3080 which would be way more expensive. If I were in this scenario I would go for 1440p 240hz.

if picture quality matters at all i have 3 recommendations

MSI MAG274QRF-QD 1440p 165hz for 400usd (best all around monitor atm) the amount of picture quality you give up from this one to any 1080p monitor is insane.

Asus PG279QM 1440p 240hz for 900usd, i'd only get this one out of the 3 if 240hz is REALLY important

LG OLED C1 for 1100 on sale (it's not for esports but damn does it look nice)

not bothered about picture quality, just want that fps in competitive games and have the tiny tiny extra edge.

Another option is Samsung G7 (1440p 240hz) if you don't mind their 1000R curve.

27GP850 is also solid 1440p monitor and probably beats other IPS monitors in response time.

But it's 180Hz at best so if you're still keen on 1440p 240Hz then get Asus PG279QM or Samsung G7.
