Way to many people need to understand that he was in school, so all porn related sites are blocked (yes I tried :P ).Also, we're not using google chrome @ school so we can't log in and get our ads trough our at-home search history.

How.. School accounts get reset with each and every login so it wasn't him atleast who is searching for these things all day.

Like everyone said, Google Ads are based on YOUR search/browsing history. Not LTTs settings. 

 

Sites like Pirate Bay don't care, they only show a particular set of ads regardless. But thats not LTT. LTT leaves it up to Google to figure out what ads to show you. 

 

Right now I either get adds for SSDs or ads to BH Photo.

Oh how I love AdBlock. I never have to put up with that crap. :P

I also have my browsers setup to not track me. Tis awesome! :D

If thats what your search history suggests, thats what you'll get. 

 

what, we don't advertise those things in real life all over the place? Why should the internet be any different?

Hey I am not trying to say that it should be different however when you sign up to adsense (I have done this) and when you create an ad unit you have censor options so if I don't want drug related adverts on my site no matter what, then you can set that, and the majority will not be shown. For instance "Gambling & Betting (18+)" is already restricted by default unless you allow it. You can block ads via the ad network or even via the url that those ads direct to. It will instead go to something else in that users history and display ads for that.

 

It is the same as say advertising in a shop window, the owner of the shop gets to say what goes up and what doesn't.

Weird, I have Adblock disabled for the linustechtips.com domain and I've never seen an add.

 

EDIT: Just opened this up in IE10 and there are adds everywhere :o

 

Not sure what's blocking them, I only have ZenMate, ProxMate and avast!

With Google I know what the ads are based on and how I can turn off personalized ads but there are other ad services and I have no idea how they work. Escapist.com always offers me some swinger sex site or whatever and it's the same ad 90 percent of the time. It can't be personalized ads surely, since I'm not a 50 year old married man.

Change your ad settings or preferences from https://www. google.ca/settings/ads‎

 

I've not had to do so and I'm rather pleased with the computer ads and Intel SSD ads I see.

Have the same Chinese Woman ads.
I only get those weird ads here on the forum.
They showed me furniture ads here on the forum.
Like I've never shopped for furniture online in my hole life.

I had a funny feeling this is exactly how this thread would be haha. People always find loopholes to look at the sites they want... just sayin ;)

 

I usually get a Calibex ad selling Bose systems, and a keyboard ad on mine. This computer is clean. LOL.

im not saying its triggered by p0rn if its dating theres a high chance of it being stuff like social media eg facebook etc
