What's the best deal you couldn't past?

What is the best deal you bought because you saw at a store or online? I have been seeing some good deals recently. For like HDDs, Ram, and SSDs.

Like a couple of months ago, I was going for a ram upgrade for my build from 16gb to 32gb. Since I game and build mods for games like left 4 dead 2, Skyrim and Fallout and I use blender and other 3d modeling softwares. So I went to best buy right when the deals change (sometimes they honor the deals of last week at the present week), they had 4x8gb kit for 275 but the deal they had for the 2x16gb for 175 on sale and bought two of the 2x16gb kits for 75 more than the 4x8gb. I know it's overkill but couldn't past that offer.

The PSU I have in my PC at the moment was a hell of a deal. I found it locally at random and it was a EVGA W1 500W PSU, brand new in box, it even had the plastic wrap and everything and I got it for 10£ and it's still going strong after 2 years. Might have been the best deal I've got.

Purchased an RX 480 8GB blower for a Mac Pro 4,1 for $120 in April 2020. I purchased at a great time as I recently purchased the Mac in a couple months prior for a pretty good deal.

Ebay can definitely produce some deals, then you have sellers trying to unload stuff over retail when you can get it on Amazon cheaper with a manufacturer's warranty.

I couldn't pass up a $700 "open box" Omen prebuilt with a 1070 a few years ago.  The seller was Adorama so I trusted it.  I made the offer thinking they'd counteroffer but it was a deal.  It looked like it was never touched.

At the time that model was selling for $1200 new.  I could most likely get more than I paid for it currently.

Unfortunately it's a custom HP 1070 (I think, saw a small HP logo on the bottom and no other branding) that may turn some people off.

I'm seeing "sold" listings for the PC as high as $879 in good working condition.

Yeah it's blower style.  Never saw it go much over 70 under load but I didn't push it too hard.

Old computer store, closing end of the week, anything that doesn't sell is eWaste.

"Uhh, that box up there? The Asus P9X79 LE? Is there a motherboard in it or is it just for display?"
"Has motherboard, never been used, $40 (Canadian), not tax if you pay cash."
"I have cash."

He did lie a bit, it was mint but missing the CPU socket cover so someone must have done something with it once upon a time.  All the pins were fine however and CAD$40 for an X79 motherboard is a literal jackpot.  It initially gave me a problem as it cleared the CMOS every time it lost access to stand by power.  Turned out the jumper was just bad, it was in the right position but didn't make a connection.  One five cent jumper later and we're in business.

RTX 3070 , 700 euros , I knew they wouldn't get cheaper anytime soon.

Looks like they're going for twice as much now?

But, generally Im not too great with deals (as you can see by the fact I think a GPU for 700 bucks is a "bargain" 😅 )

Lol we're talking about tech here.

Yesterday actually! Managed to catch a great deal, I got a WD Blue m.2 SATA 1TB drive for $60 shipped on Amazon Warehouse. Yeah, I know it's SATA, but that's a great price for 1TB. The 500GB model was even only $5 less and it stated as new condition. Looking forward to see if it's actually used.

One deal I missed out on last year though is an RX 580 8GB for $60 that was working, but had no I/O shield at all. Thought it was a mining card and I passed on it, it was supposed to be for a family member of mine.

Well played. If it's not just about tech, I could tell people here about a bunch of random deals not related to tech.

Anyway, nice shepherd. I maybe want a husky later on, but only when I move out. Speaking about pets, last year I had to pass on a "deal" where a seller in my area offered a young cat for free adoption.

My deal had absolutely nothing to do with any shrewdness on my part, it was just dumb luck.

When the 30-series GPUs were announced, a couple of online stores in my country immediately published their listings. I found one that had an ASUS TUF 3080 (non OC) on offer for $850 (roughly converted prices based on the exchange rate at the time). But they also had a discount code on the item page for $150. I literally got a 3080 for $700. They delivered it 2 months later.

And now a word from our sponsor: 💩

That's an amazing deal for especially a 3080.

I have heard of people who ordered their 3080 on time and waited for months and then got it cancelled. There are even people who ordered their 3070/3080/3090 last year at release and are still on the waiting list until today.
