...in what budget? What purpose? New or used? Where do you live, country wise? What PSU and how many watts can it pull out?

If youre just looking for a general gaming recommendations, 10400F is already plenty CPU power for a 3060 right now.

Depends on what you will use it for.

The absolute best is the 5900x or 5950x but those are also totally unnecessary for most PCs.

For a pure gaming PC the Ryzen 5 5600x probably the best all-round CPU.

A really good budget CPU is the i5 11400.

The 11400 out performs last gen Ryzen 3600.

Is it better to have 2 gtx 1080 or only one rtx 2060

Even a single GTX 1080 should be on par or faster than an RTX 2060. So simply based on this a dual GTX 1080 setup would be better. That being said SLI is a thing anymore, as no one really takes the time to optimize their games to leverage it. If you already have a GTX 1080 just stick it for now and get something else when prices go down and more stock becomes available.

Look at the recommended specs for the versions of cad you want to use. See if they fall within your budget. Start with them, and base a computer build around those specs.

I am curious on what you mean by under 500. You are just getting a cpu and gpu for a combined total under 500? Are you not factoring in the motherboard ram and many other components in the computer?

I didn't even think of that, does the whole computer need to be under $500? Or just the CPU and GPU? Good catch.

Yeah I was just thinking because basically all the other parts sorta depend on what cpu and gpu you get. I mean if you get a beefy cpu and gpu you need a beefy psu. Also motherboard costs vary quite a bit depending on what cpu you go for. That isn't even mentioning the fact that they haven't said anything about already having other parts. It would be one thing if they already had a pc and were just need a gpu but as soon as they said they need a cpu and said nothing about having an existing motherboard it had to be compatible with i knew they likely didn't understand all that went into making a pc build or they simply forgot to specify.

Ok what about the rest of the system? I mean the cpu and gpu sorta determine the cost of the rest of the build so unless you plan on having a nonfunctional pc with only a cpu and gpu I don't see how we can be of any help.

Yeah, & if you have parts already, the gpu is universal but your cpu socket will narrow the list real fast (especially at your budget).

DDR4 4400 is overkill, I'd go with 3600 MHz. You'd also have to overclock Infinity Fabric if you want it running at 1:1 with memory clock, because it'll switch to 1:2 otherwise and I'm not sure Zen 2 can run at 2200 MHz (I think even Zen 3 tops out around 2000 MHz).

Whether you want 16 GB or 32 GB depends on how much you need right now and for how long you plan on keeping the PC. Most games right now should be fine with 16, but a few years down the line 32 GB would probably be better.

Depends game to game but MOST are not RAM bandwidth limited and tuning timings usually is the go to...

Shadow of the Tombraider FPS does increase with Bandwidth, but many others see small gains hardly noticible.

I have 3200C14 OC at 4300C17, +15GB/s read/write and is 44ns down to 38ns (Intel) but even on Ryzen id go for 3600-3800 and lower timings myself...

Id chase lower timings with relatively high speed but try to get the best of both worlds..

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
