Should I get 1 stick with 16gb of ram or 2*8gb of ram?

2x8GB, then RAM will work Dual-channel mode. It's faster than single-channel and more stable.

2x8.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Grab the dual GTX 730s and SLI them for maximum throughput, and give me the 1070! 🤪

(the 1070 is a better value)

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

You can most certainly have both GPU's in your system and have them functional but not in the way you think. You could use both cards as separate discrete processors in compute applications like 3D model rendering. However, you cannot use both in gaming. DX12 technically can use both IF the game supports it but it's very far from ideal, especially when using different cards.

CPU: Intel i7 - 5820k @ 4.5GHz, Cooler: Corsair H80i, Motherboard: MSI X99S Gaming 7, RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB DDR4 2666MHz CL16,

GPU: ASUS GTX 980 Strix, Case: Corsair 900D, PSU: Corsair AX860i 860W, Keyboard: Logitech G19, Mouse: Corsair M95, Storage: Intel 730 Series 480GB SSD, WD 1.5TB Black

Nope, the 1650 doesn't support SLI. You can put both in but really it wouldn't make much sense. Even if it did have, most games don't make use of it. If you have both GPU's put in the 1070.

you can use both cards in a single system

but you can only use one of them for games, the other card can do something else

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

can you run both in the box?  Yes.

SLI?  No.

Why would you want to use both?

Would a gtx 1650 be better than a rtx 2060 for gaming?

Definitly not.

It's older but also nearly twice as fast. Other than the performance there's really no difference unless you have a 1650 Super, which has better streaming encoders.

It's older but more powerful. So connect your display to that and use it in the top slot of your mainboard.

If you aren't doing 3D rendering workloads or some deep-learning stuff you should just sell your 1650. Games can't use 2 different GPUs (the 1650 doesn't even support SLI which is the feature of 2 GPUs working together for gaming).

Sidenote: SLI doesn't scale very well, you won't get 2X the performance more like 1.5X on games that are optimized, which most aren't.

The 1070 is about equivalent to a 2060 except no RT cores.

The 1070ti is equivalent to a 2060, the 2060 is around 20% faster than the 1070

Why is the 7700k 6% better than the 8350k if they're both 2% better than the 5600x?

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.
