What does based mean?

Once one guy said he is based and redpilled, so basically it doesn't really have a meaning in this sentence?

To say that someone is redpilled means that they are aware of something, usually referring to political statements. It comes from the Matrix where Neo is given an option between taking a blue pill where he remains ignorant and goes on living his life like a sheep, or he can take the red pill and discover the world is not what it seems and learn the truth. Those that are "red pilled" are those who people consider to see past the bullshit and see 'the truth' (though this is often a term used in reference to political opinions, so 'the truth' can be subjective)

In this context to say someone is redpilled and based means that they have balls and that you respect them for saying something that is true but might be controversial to say or not widely accepted.

The person saying they are "based and redpilled" for saying social media was a tumour was expressing their agreement with their statement about social media and that they respect them for saying something that others (everyone who uses social media, which is the majority of people) might disagree with.

I have found different definitons on google. What does it really mean?

Used in what context? Can you use it in a sentence.

Based can mean where something is located.

The soldier was based in Iraq during their service.

The bank is based in New York.

Based can also refer to the basis of, the origin or reasoning for something.

My opinion of an actor is based on his performance in movies.

The movie is based on a true story.

Based also has a few slang meanings. Based can be describing someone high on drugs (crack?). Based can also be used as slang for agreeing with a statement or used as describing someone as bold.

"Based" is the opposite of "cringe", meaning your behavior is respectable and you're just doing what you want and someone is admiring you for it. It can also just mean you agree with someone, like saying "word" in the days of yore.

Another meaning, and the one in which I most commonly use it, is being true to yourself, accepting who you are, and acting on it. Often this is accompanied by the attitude of not caring what others think.

Can honestly say I've never heard of either of these definitions but i don't keep up on zoomer talk

Based to me means something is based in a certain location or based in reality

having a specified type of base or basis
a soundly based argument
I realized that his technique was psychoanalytically based.
oil-based paints

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Come on guys I know what based means, I was asking for an unusual use.

As for context, one guy was saying the social media was a tumor, (the guy calls everything he doesn't like crap) and another guy said "Geez I didn't know he was so based,"

You sure he didn't say biased? That would make much more sense.

Sounds like the person who used it doesn't know what it means because that sentence doesn't work

Based is like saying you are in approval of something or someone.

It's like saying cool. The internet has made the word based synonymous to right wing approval, although this term has been used before the rise of right wing radicals on the internet. I remember using the slang way back in high school in 2010.

It certainly doesn't make the feefees of the mods turn to chunky milk so there's that.

Based in terms of the meme context is saying something is, red pilled if you get that idiom.
"Based and [insert thing] Pilled"

If you don't get the red pill idiom: red pill means "The terms "red pill" and "blue pill" refer to a choice between the willingness to learn a potentially unsettling or life-changing truth, by taking the red pill, or remaining in contented ignorance with the blue pill." from the arbiter of semi-truths when talking about certain hot button topics and controversies, Wikipedia.

If it was for an unusual case maybe you should have started with that and provided context instead of just asking for the definition of the word.

I think red also comes from republicians. So it is actually positive. I thought it was negative because he said wtf beforehand. Thanks a lot!

It's always funny to me when people use it for messaging that is the exact opposite of what the movie implies :old-tongue:

Neo was never promised the truth with the red pill, he was told he would see how deep the rabbit hole would go which was rather clever writing the Wachowskis as it doesn't define what Neo experiences will be the truth, just a deep Alice in Wonderland alternative reality.

There's still a very clear implication of what it means to take "the blue pill" in the real world and very often it reflects what people who use the phrase "red pill" politically actually want.
