Tech Support asks for Personal Information

He aksed for name, phone number, email, serial number and product number. Is this normal and safe? Should I give him these personal infos?

For a tech product yes. I don't see why he doen't need this info.

Sounds like standard data collection for a support ticket.  They need to know who you are, what product you have and how to contact you.

Just make sure you didn't do something like google "hp tech support" and call a random number from an ad.

Other than that, you're not really giving much info to go on.

Of those only name is personal information. Phone and email are contact information. They can be used to obtain personal information, but by themselves are not individually identifying. Product, model and serial numbers are required for checking their system for further information.

 

So overall, normal. If they would ask your address, gender, age and other details which aren't required to solve the issue, that would be problem.

oooh no, thats probably no good. If your calling tech support over Whatsapp, you probably shouldn't tell them anything other than your phone number or email if that. I've never seen official tech support do business over Whatsapp, but I could be incorrect. Just be very cautious.
