Ahh Kyoukai no Kanata... the feelings.... that was a good watch. Hopefully there will be enough Light Novel content for another season.

What did you get?

Philips Fidelio X1s. I do not regret the purchase at all! Not the most comfortable headphones at first but once they adjust to your head, you almost don't want to wear anything else. Sounds great for gaming and pretty much any music.

They have a warm-leaning sound signature - emphasis on the bass and the mids. Thing is, they're open, and while the bass could be topped by other headphones, you'll never miss it. Treble is actually pretty good for a lot of songs, but in others, it sounds really fake. I was listening to Muse and I was thinking about how the treble sounded just a little grainy. That's just me; I haven't listened to a lot of headphones. But hot damn, the soundstage on these headphones is unlike anything I've ever listened to. With FLAC or high-bitrate MP3s, they sound phenomenal. It's pretty forgiving of poor recordings, too, because I tried it out on YouTube and it sounded alright - just not as detailed because of compression.

As for all-around use, I can easily recommend them. They're comfortable, can be worn for long hours (I don't even use my speakers anymore), but need to be broken in a little. As for different genres of music, people say it leans towards electronic music. I find it's great for everything; not sure about classical, though. I listen to a lot of alternative rock music. Things like Muse, Nirvana, Radiohead, Chevelle, Breaking Benjamin, and Linkin Park.

I bought them because pretty much any audiophile I talk to recommends them. I can see why. Pricey but worth every penny.
