Microsoft quietly drops XBox One Price

Business Insider reports that Microsoft is quietly reducing the XBox One price by 50$. The 500$ console, is being sold at 450$ nearly everywhere in the US including Microsoft store online.

 

 

 

Walmart, Best Buy, Target have all dropped the console’s price to $449.* The price is for consoles packaged with Xbox One's exclusive new game "Titanfall" and another bundle including Forza Motorsport 5.

A look at Walmart's current weekly ad doesn't include a mention of the console in its rollback prices. Target's circular doesn't even show the Xbox One mentioned on its video game page. We can't find anything under Best Buy's featured weekly deals either.

The drop in price comes as Sony's PS4 is dominating the gaming market.

According to VGChartz, as of March 22, Sony has sold approximately 6.3 million consoles — and is having trouble keeping up with demand.

Microsoft has sold 3.9 million Xbox One consoles.

I NEED IT. Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo are literally the only good racing games. They are fun and dynamic and yet also realistic, detailed and full of automotive choice. I for one am a fan of Forza, so the Xbox One is for me. And if I had the choice, I would buy a colored version from ColorWare but will probably get some sort of skins for mine when I get it.

The ironic part is that this comes a bit after Sony hiked the price of the PS4 $50 CAD in Canada.

 

Apparently it's because of "changes in the market environment". It's an easy way to say they know that economic collapse is imminent if they don't do something.

Nha, they increased the price on market they know that people will still buy it at that price to reduce the loss of the console, as Sony is bleeding money daily, and are desperate to stay alive.

But of course it also misses features that the Xbox One has. They are two different products in the same market. If you are solely interested in graphical performance and nothing else, the PS4 is what you want. If you are focused on using it as an all-around home media device, the Xbox One is still better.

 

This generation of gaming is strange.

 

Microsoft went soft, Sony went specs-to-the-max, Nintendo are quietly committing seppuku and the PC is just sort of rotting on the low end while AMD have their thumbs in their butts and NVIDIA are releasing unrealistically priced "gaming" cards.

A console nowadays is not only used for gaming anymore. It is used also for content consumption and more. The One is respectable in the fact that it does home theatre stuff better, while the PS4 is better because it is a better gaming machine.

 

And I am liking how we are having a console debate without going #PCMASTERRACE4LYFE.

Over here its bloody about $700 for that console!  I've never owned a console and nothing will ever make me own a console!
