They've done RRR over webcam before when people couldn't travel.  The last one I watched picked a local Canadian on purpose just to have one of them live on the show due to the travel bans.  Another winner was on cam.

Yes, and then it was limited to those in US and Canada. Hence "we don't know before its announced".

I'm rocking that Pentium E5400 with an ATi Radeon HD 4650, and even an i5-3570 in my dad's rig feels so much better, tho the Pentium is kind of enough for what I do, the only thing that bothers me is that I can't play new games, but at least what I love to do this machine can kind of handle - that's coding, although building stuff is pain when it comes to heavier projects. I would love to have a newer machine and I never understood people saying that their 2015+ CPU is old and bad lmao

It can be. Get a low end amd chip from 2015, it's pre ryzen, it's going to be a shit show.

you can get an i5 6500 refurb business machine on ebay for a little over 100$ for the full box.  Why suffer?  (Won't have a GPU tho)

A few reasons stop me from doing so - my age and my school, I'm quite loaded over here, not because I'm lazy or stuff - it is just that our school is in top 10 of my country and the requirements are high too, also considering I take participation in a lot of olympiads in robotics and IT, I just don't have time to get at least some job (except for summer - I am looking to really upgrade my PC to some Ryzen 7 since my parents apparently were saving up money for my PC, but we will see if it won't go on something else)

ROG Rig Reboot 2020 was limited to people in North America due to COVID-19. COVID-19 is still a problem so I would guess at this stage it's unlikely that if they do decide to do ROG Rig Reboot this year that it will be open internationally. Keep in mind ROG Rig Reboot 2021 has not been confirmed or announced so we don't know any details about it, they might not even be doing it.

We don't know if there will be any competition at all. Or if there are international entries allowed due traveling restrictions.

 

You are wrong in the note about international winners. In 2019 there was one category for international participants, and the winner was from Germany (in German living in Australia, can't remember which).

Last year the announcement came in October. So you have plenty of months to wait. And when announcement is made, it will contain all the information you will need.
