How did you guys save up for your PC?

Guest
Go to solution Solved by lani100,

Work, Repair some stuff for family and friends and ask some money for the jobs and I buy some used hardware and build computers and sell them with a llittle profit.

I used to save up money given for expences, received as gift/prices etc

Now working in night shift  :(, for extra salary , so I can upgrade PC components. GTX 970 is next on the long list

Finally got PS4 Pro

I got my first job at 15. It's a bit of a pain in the neck until you have your drivers license but worth it. Maybe you should look into that.

I'm in highschool training to be a technician (audio, lighting, staging ect.). As one of the main techs I get to work on the paid jobs not hosted by the school. One of my friends bought a car off only 3 jobs during the summer.

I run my browser through NSA ports to make their illegal jobs easier. :P

This is aimed for at people around my age, that can't get a job yet. I'm 15 and I babysit my little sister for money. What do you guys do?

Around 15-16 I would ask my relatives for help when making big purchases. 99% of the time they would usually pitch in, and even if it's just a small amount it's better than nothing. Always ask my parents and/or relatives. You would be amazed what stuff they will just randomly buy for you.

I bought a bowl of matchbooks at an antique store for 15$ and sold them all on eBay for 5$ a piece and made enough to buy my PC. I sold a pair of Gucci shoes that I bought at a yard sale and made 70$, sold old video games and a PS3 and made the majority of $$ for my PC. At the end of every week my parents would give me 10-20$ for pizza or food or whatever because my friends and I would always go to the school football games, and I saved the change up.

At a young age, you have to rig the system a bit. In elementary school I used my lunch money to buy these disgusting tasting candy-paste that everyone was obsessed with and sold it for way more than the store sells it for.

I saved all but $150 of mine from cutting my grandma's grass (anywhere from 10-20, depending on how much needed done). The $150 was from her deck that I just got done.

Which reminds me, I still need paid for the last time I cut her grass, and cleaned the windows in her LeSabre.

When I was your age I'd do stuff for relatives for money. Yard work, painting, fixing decks, etc etc.

I also bought and sold things and made stuff for craft fairs etc. Which I got my little sister and mom to sell.

When I was 16 I got myself a job. Something you can easily do at 15 as well, so it's definitely something to consider.

300 on clothes?? i just wear p.e pants, nike shirt, some nike shoes.

You think $300 is a lot?
I spend that much every couple months on a couple new articles.

...I think all my shoes are over $250...

cargo shorts and a plaid button down 24/7/365 until somebody convinces me to wear *growl* other clothes also no socks

Don't your feet freeze in the winter?

5 bucks here will buy you a cheeseburger or something, charge atleast 20, 20 bucks is still like nothing but it actually adds up after a while

In the Philippines, $20 is a huge amount of money to most people.

I had a job at a amusement park near by when i was 15 i worked 12 hour days 6 days a week and got about 500 dollars every 2 weeks

now i just got a job at a company called Knoll getting about 500 a week for 10 hour days 5 days a week

This is seriously my situation, leave at 5am come home @ 5pm $500 every two weeks 50 bucks a day. (im 15 btw)

If you two are working that much and only making that kind of money you're getting seriously ripped off lol

What clothes do you buy that are 300$?

That's not a lot of money. Depends what you're buying though.

For example my shirts are often ~$125.

I got my first job at 15. It's a bit of a pain in the neck until you have your drivers license but worth it. Maybe you should look into that.

You can easily do it without a drivers license as well, just depends where you live.

I don't. I'm 25 and can't find a job due to our supposedly "recovering" economy.

I'm hopefully going to be building my mom a new computer this fall/winter. I plan on ordering some hyperX fury 1866 ram then and giving her my adata 1600 (the price difference is like, 15 bucks so not really a big deal in my mind)

What do you mean you can't find a job? I was 16 and i literally walked into a recruitment agency and found a job. No interview or shortlisting.

Yes and no.

Have you worn $10 clothes? The fit isn't nearly as nice.

Have you worn $30 dress shirts? They're absolutely awful. I can't stand the fabric they use. Go up to $65 dress shirts and it gets better, but the better cuts come in around $100.

Same thing for jeans. Functionally yes, you can get decent jeans for $20. I find I have to spend at least $80 to get the right style and fit I want.

When i cant legally get a job anywhere else, money is money. When i have the oppurtunity to get a pay raise or better job i will but for now, $500 is a lot of money :)

Fair enough, still I would have thought that they'd have some form of protection against that.

Here, after 8 hours a day it's overtime, regardless of how many hours you've worked that week.

When I was 15 I had a job. Before that I used to do stuff like shoveling snow for people and yard work. Eventually I gained a reputation among my parents close friends and they came to me and asked for me to do stuff for them. Heck I even still clear snow for a couple of them and I have a full time job.

I agree and disagree. If you have the right body proportions the designer stuff really is already tailored to you.

Now, I do agree, I hate seeing a "designer" brand shirt like a tee shirt costing $60. That's ridiculous. Especially when you look at the tag and it says "Made In Vietnam/China/Bengladesh"

Really? Consumers know how much you paid to get that made there.

It really depends on the garment, I guess is what I'm trying to get at.

All the shoes I've had that were more expensive have actually been worth it.

@dizmo I really can't see myself paying over $50 for normal clothes I just look around for something that fits and isn't too garish and voila and shoes all I care about is that they're wide so for that I can't get brand names because they're always super skinny but I'm guessing that part of is me coming from a country where brand names cost upward of a 1000egp which is insane

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.
