Honey ads - lies?

I don't know if it's due to being Canadian and the coupons/deals are less in quantity, but it's worked maybe once or twice since it came out. Every other time, it's stated that I already have the best price and that's it. Clearly, perhaps my shopping cart never ended up qualifying for all the various coupons it's checking, but it hasn't been a worthwhile install in my experience.

i mostly shop online on amazon, and i have never had honey manage to snag a working discount code. never had any issues with system performance. but the ad on itself? gone now, its been useless for me.

I have honey and I have rarely ever gotten a coupon on what I'm buying, I imagine it works better for those that shop often at various sites. I did save almost 20 bucks on the lawn mower 3.0 though, and it stacked with a coupon they had so I got it for like 50 bucks which was nice, but yea its usually very rare.

The only use I've found for it is the price history for Amazon items.

 

Has Honey worked for you?  At more than a 1% rate? 

Did you sign up for an account with them? 

Do you actually believe that none of their income comes from selling your personal info?

And guess what? Even that price history feature is rather suspect if you ask me... all you have to do is compare Honey’s price history on an Amazon page with the much more detailed history you can find on camelcamelcamel.com. Honey gives you a pretty low-detail summary, and I’ve often observed the numbers they report for max/min price to be incorrect. Camelcamelcamel lets you specify time period, new vs used vs 3rd party, and they have a useful function to “zoom out” on the graph to show the actual price (which gives a much better sense of the proportion of normal price you’re saving at any given time). It also generally goes back in time further than honey would show you, so you can see if a product goes on sale seasonally or annually (for instance camera gear - I keep track of Fuji this way and have learned that it goes on sale almost like clockwork). 

I don’t like how polished honey is, especially the graphs. If I’m after data, it makes me think twice when what I’m presented with is as pretty as honey’s graphics are.

There's now a built-in price comparison feature for Microsoft Edge browser. Not sure how great it is, but when I occasionally use Edge, it shows a lot of coupons available when browsing various shopping sites. May be worth checking out.

I'm more annoyed at Honey ads than Raid Shadow Legends... at least those ads don't lie about anything (other than maybe the person doing the ad read actually playing the game)

saved me $5 on server hosting once, only time I've ever used it though, deleted it right after since it likes to track my info

I'm close to a $1000 saved just on Newegg with Honey. Haven't had any luck on it though since early Summer. 

 

But I've saved a few $$ here and there with it. Also earned Gift Cards with the points.

I save on Ubereats orders a few time, it does not work all the time as you have to wait for new code to come out. Most code on site can only be use ones. It works sometime on some site. Amazon it does not work at all but not all site have coupons.

I tried using for a while and it never found a coupon. It was like “keep trying and we’ll give you a $5 gift card after 100000 tries.” This annoyed me and I removed it.

 

The only way to get real discounts is to visit the site in private/incognito and see if they offer any discounts, usually 5-20% off for first time purchases. Also, something stupid is happening where vendors give discounts to mobile users so try visiting the page that way. I’ve save a bunch doing this.

What I believe is that honey tries to establish a userbase with empty promises and an "empty shell" of a service meaning that it doesnt find actual deals best case scenario it has a database from all those other "coupon" sites with whatever outaded/notworking coupons and feeds that back to you so the only time it works is if the coupon is just technically a coupon (so not a "secret" code to get a discount but some marketing scheme to entice potential customers like e.g audible or other companies do and you see that every yourtuber has this "special code" just for the visitors of the channels that bring the same "discount" for the service ) 

 

 

Hopefully they do that so that when they have a strong userbase they will actually try to cut referraldeals with retailers but that's just me seeing trying to see the good in people

If you use Honey you should disable it until you get to the cart otherwise it sells all of your data.

Well if that is the cause (sounds possible to me) LTT shouldn't associate with them and they should try to research before promoting a service.

I think I've might have got a discount once waaaaay back but not really useful for the sites I'm on or because I'm in Canada.
