At 4k is there a performance difference between Intel and AMD?

Orfieus

I'm talking about two comparable CPUs, i5 10600k vs Ryzen5 3600x

I game on a 4K 120Hz monitor and I'm in the process of upgrading my i7 4770k (OC to 4.2Ghz, GPU is 1080Ti but I will be upgrading that....when I can) and there is a lot of hype around AMD (which is fantastic) but the only thing I do on my PC is game and watch YouTube/Twich/Movies so I'm wondering if I should just go with a i5

However with the new consoles coming out I have a feeling more games will start using more cores and if that is the case will the difference between AMD and Intel start to grow in AMDs favor, even at 4k gaming?

With absolutely no information regarding what games , or what settings will be used. Then no there's zero difference. Pong looks great in 4k on either cpu

Give me a break, I don't have to give you some long laundry list of games that I intend to play and it is implied at high/maximum graphics.

If you have no idea what you are talking about why did you post anything, or do you like how you sound in your head?

I think she probably watched the LTT review, which had 2 FPS differences on 4K, it's very GPU reliant

Some games play good with intel, other games play good with amd. Give it a break...

I missed that, the only comparisons I've seen are at 1080p and a few slides at 1440p, and the 1440p slides had next to no difference.

So at 4K there really is no difference between Intel and AMD and its all about preference?

.

yes there is a difference, and it's expected to get more cpu heavy since the base spec (consoles) have 8 cores.

intel is inherently better at RDR3, everything else it's not even close, amd wins, even on 4k, a 5600x wipes the floor with everything intel has to offer.

a few common cases where you'll see a difference, any ubisoft games, and modern shooters, hitman

For 100 and 120hz if you play on medium on a 3090 or probably a 6900xt, or even the 6800 if rumors are true, assume a 5-10% difference in 1% lows between a comet lake and a zen 2 cpu (below 100 fps), and another 5-10% difference between comet lake and zen 3. The difference is small but anyone going with a next gen gpu would have to be biased to go intel with a next gen gpu on a new build.

0% chance i go intel if i do a build right now, but everything's out of stock.
