Ryzen 5 3600 vs 3600x

Go to solution Solved by Ωmegα,

Assuming 3600 costs 185 € and 3600x costs 200 €, that's 8,11% more.

3600x gives 3% more performance than 3600.

If you think that 3% is worth 8,11% more of your money, then go for it.

You could get 2-3 FPS more in games that utilize CPU more.

And also 3600x has a bigger (and better(?)) cooler. (95W cooler instead of 65W of 3600)

I personally would go for it nevertheless.

Hey guys, thinking about buying a new machine, and I'm inclined to buy a ryzen 5 3600. The shop where I'm planning to buy the parts have the 3600x for only more 15€(yeah I'm european) and i would like to know your opinion. Is it worth the 15€ or should i side with the 3600?

Thanks in advance

Portugal, well right now is around 500€ because i already have the gpu(gtx 1060 6gb) and the ssd and hdd. I'm also waiting for black friday so until then i have time to think this through.

Thanks everyone for the feedback

And by the way, what do you guys think about the Asus Prime B450M-K II motherboard, will it do enough or should i go for a 550 chipset?

I think there's a good MSI board with B450. Tomahawk or something like that.

Anyway, check if either the MSI or the one you mentioned have a BIOS Flash(back) button. If they do have, you can risk it going with a B450 and the worst it could happen is that you will have to do a BIOS update.

I personally would go with a B550, because I value my time, well-being, and satisfaction more than I value the extra few euros difference between B450 and B550. :)

If you don't know which B550, check in PC Part Picker.

I heard good stuff about Gigabyte's B550 AORUS ELITE.

For only 15 euro more, I'd definitely buy the 3600X.  The 3600X is selected from the batch as a CPU that can be clocked higher.  15 Euro is just skipping one lunch!

I have the Ryzen 5 3600 on an el cheapo board, Ga-A320H-S2H and if my PassMark score is anything to go by I am scoring constantly 18300+ with a water cooler no overcloking, the board cannot, the average score for the 3600X is 18334....so I don't think its worth it.
