LTT Official Folding Month 2020!!!

Go to solution Solved by GOTSpectrum,

Luckily when I said it was almost done, I really meant it.

For the last time in 2020, ladles and gentlespoons, here a blog post.

And with that said, it's a wrap! Thank you for everyone getting involved, if you'd like to continue talking about folding why not head over to The Folding Community Board

that 7737 and 6430u have Nvidia Graphics and 7440 have amd graphics at least? i know the 6220 was too small and old to have any of that. or be it all intel

The 7737 hast a GT 750m, then the Motile M-142 has Vega 8. But the others are intel graphics sadly.

So...on those older laptops what are you pulling avg PPD? on a 7600u(2c 4t 16GB ram) i am avging 9973 ppd estimated just curious lol currently runnin proj 14825 had to throw the first one away as it was started on low power and would barely pull 20% even after reboot.

Just started them up today so I will know for sure probably tomorrow. However surprisingly the e6220 holds its own against the two newer Latitudes. Its i5-2520 M is getting around 4700PPD at around 70*C (all of the machines are on cooling pads). The E7440 is from the dark ages of Dell's business laptops and its i7-4600u is only getting around 2746 PPD and I will likely be taking that one offline till it cooks itself to death hitting around 85*C peak. The E6430U is in the same ballpark as the E6220 as its i5-3437u is basically the same CPU with some power optimizations, its getting around 4500 PPD at around 70*C. The Inspiron 7377 only has a low power i5-4200u and the CPU is getting only 2500 PPD but running at a cool 60*C. My logic is this, these CPU's are all in a Ultrabook config with a TDP no higher than 35 watts. Even with low PPD, they are still pretty efficient compared to running lets say my PowerEdge T610 which would likely get around the same total PPD but at a much higher power cost. I am running all the laptops only with hardwired LAN, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Displays off.

Math works out to around 82 Watts combined. Adjusting for total system power, maybe 200 total watts for all 4.

yeah not bad the 7440 was a nice laptop for the time was just to thin too early lol...on that 17" inspiron you would probably get better ppd just running the GPU as its a shared heatpipe iirc. i have an R415 i can power up but will be in the same boat 6cores 200Watt lol and the Noise....

i will fold on Calc and Benders CPUS first before i power up the 415.

i plan on getting the 5900x or 5800x cant decide for calculon.

will see what i can afford at the time of shipment lol i may stick with the 3900x and just get a new GPU too.

or i may jsut get the series X s much to release all at the same time...

I hear you man, lots to decide. I am running a 3700x myself on a b450. Seems like the 5000 series really needs a 500 series mobo to take full advantage so its a bit hard to justify all that $$$ at once. I went from a 1700x, to 2700x then 3700x so I think this time I will hold off till second gen AM5 before my next major upgrade......... maybe picking up a second hand 3900x in the mean time.

I'm also thinking about getting the series X, I think the 0% financing option with Gamepass ultimate is the way to go. The way I see it, I am already paying the $15 a month for ultimate. I can probably justify the extra $20 more a month by getting one less pizza a month (I need to cut that crap out anyway). My kid bro got the one X and is taking advantage of the trade in, this may be speculation but I think in 2-3 years they will likely release an upgrade so its basically going to be like leasing a new car every few years.

I'm kind of holding my own up and down a lot I'm set to advanced.

So it is looking like Project 17306(A beta project) is causing the lower production, it is a massive 200k atom count WU which could be part of the reason for the lower PPD

Sounds about right to have massive slow units come out right before an event ;)

It's OK it's still going to take him 11 years to take your #1 spot.

Only if he doesn't lower production.
