My microphone doesn't work

Hello, so i just bought my new headset HyperX Cloud Alphas and headphones are fine but my microphone isn't working, when i go to sound settings it shows that my mic is plugged in and that it is set as a default but it's not hearing my voice. 

Please help.

If you are using windows 10, there is a trouble shoot system in the settings. It can update the driver for you, try that.

Press Properties > Listen > Listen to this device and talk to see if that gives you any sound

Did you use the included headphone/microphone splitter cable?

It has been a long time since I used a built-in 3.5 mm audio jack on my computer. Back in the days (5 years ago) a message would pop up, indicating I plugged something into one of the ports and asking what it was. Windows is probably only installing a generic driver and maybe you would be more successful with a driver package from homepage of the mainboard manufacturer.
Do you see the audio input spike when you plug your microphone into the port? You should or something might be configured wrong.
