Z270 Motherboard with quad channel memory?

Hey ltt fanboys & -girls,

 

I was looking for a z270 motherboard for 7700k with quad channel memory and i've found even the top of the line ASRock Z270 SuperCarrier only supports dual channel. So is the platform limited to that or have I missed a board?

The platform is limited to dual channel only HEDT platforms have quad channel iirc

Z270 can't do quad channel, only two sets of dual channel (assuming it has 4 memory slots).

z270 (AKA LGA 1151, consumer platform) doesn't support quad channel, only dual.

U need to with a HEDT platform to get quad channel.

The part of the system that interfaces with the memory (which is on the CPU), only supports dual channel.

Only threadripper and Intel HEDT CPUs (as well as most server class gear) support quad channel memory.

So I got four slots with only two sticks equiped. If I double up to 32GB the bandwith stays the same, only the capacity goes up do I get that right?

Correct.

The 4 sticks won't work together, just slots 2&4 will work together and slots 1&2 will work together. So effectively that's the same bandwidth.
