guys do new gpus and motherboards still contain gold in them because i need to  know that

as far as i'm aware gold is still very commonly used in electronics manufacturing. (specific example being internal connections between the legs and silicon of a DIP package)

 

that said, the amount of gold is neglible in terms of recycling value, if not recycling at an industrial scale.

Yes, but not very much, and it's really difficult to extract, often requiring dangerous chemicals including cyanide

A lot of electronics has small amounts of gold or other precious metals like silver or palladium, especially on contacts, gold can often be on high end PCBs as they keep a nice conductive path that is resistsnt to tarnishing and corrosion.

 

Why do you ask ? The amount is tiny.

Yes, but not nearly as much as they used to. Gold is still used in contacts and pins, but only as an atoms-thick plating. The biggest source of gold was CPUs before the flip-chip era-- rather than being soldered directly to a substrate, they used hundreds of gold wires soldered on top, which could contain a few grams of gold per chip. IIRC the Pentium Pro line was the last and most gold-rich of these.

just to add that high end headphones and sound cards have the most gold in them, since they have the tightest requirements in signal clarity

so i understand from that new motherboards don't contain more the a few milligrams or what

Something like that. Gold is used on contact surfaces as it protects them from oxidation and corrosion.

All electronics use gold on contact surfaces. I'm not sure if they are used anywhere else. Every port on your PC, every slot and so on has gold plating either one or both sides of connection. More expensive audio and video cables may use it for full length of cable to prevent any electrical noise.
