I would not recommend trying to changing the SOC, you will run into loads of compatibility issues with ROMs, blob, firmware, and that is if you are able to frankenstein another SOC into the phone.

I have my 3T it is still a decent performer with lineageos.  If it is on last legs root it and go full lineageos. if that isnt good enough, get a new phone.

Intel 12400F | 2x8 3000Mhz Corsair LPX | ASRock H570M-ITX  | Noctua DH-N14 | Corsair MP50 480GB | Meshilicious | Corsair SF600Fedora

Thanks let me know if I said something useful. Cheers!

Like it or not, no.  Phones aren't like desktop PCs where you can simply drop in a new part while keeping everything else intact; they're tightly integrated.  A new CPU and screen might kill the battery life, for example.  And there's a good chance that the cost of getting and installing the components you want would make a new phone sound like a better option.

There'd be zero point in such aftermarket motherboards in the first place, since you'd be swapping out practically everything except the display, battery and camera. Storage, RAM, SoC, most sensors and so on are all soldered to the mobo, so you'd practically be buying a new phone anyways. It'd also cost more than a complete new phone, simply due to lack of market-demand.

Besides the above, there'd have to be some financial incentive for someone to manufacture such in the first place, but there'd be only like 5 people on the entire planet interested in such, so the incentive just ain't there.

i was just wondering if like the oneplus 5 or even 6 parts like the motherboard may fit into the 3t. i know how hard it is to replace the actual parts individually.

dont the oneplus 5 and 3t have similar boards with similar connectors this should make the boards atleast partly compatible if not all the features work
