been screwing the Noctua NH15 (AM4 mount) for like 3 minutes and it wouldn't tighten

im not sure if is slowly going down or not. I removed the default mount, put the right am4 mounts and so on following this video:

now i just keep screwing both screws, screwing and screwing forever, and im not sure if its doing something or not. should i keep doing? is it this slow? WTF

You need to apply an uncomfortable amount of pressure to start the screws on Noctua coolers.

if i start one, it lifts the oposite one and it wouldnt start. im fucking tired

the cable is touching one of the 2 mounting screws, is this dangerous? the natural place to put the fan (right in the middle) makes the cable touch the screw thing. im worried that it will be hot and damage cable. it also touches the disipation tubes

it doesn't matter a single bit, that your cables are touching any part of the cooler. no issues at all.

The clip design is super annoying to work with.

Make sure you have the clips in the right orientation.

i got them put in place by looking at how its put in place in the default fan, if it wasnt for that i wouldnt have been able to put it

its also annoying trying to guess if you have selected the same gap on both places of the heatsink to make it fully horizontal

The noctua NH-D15 has 2 fan cables, I could either:

  1. Plug both into CPU_FAN using included Y splitter

  2. Plug first fan into CPU_FAN and second into CPU_OPT.

What is the better idea? If I use a splitter can i control both fans with PWM of CPU_FAN normally? one of the splits has only 3 pins

Doesn't matter much.

If you take option 1, your motherboard can still control both fans, just both at the same speed.

With option 2, you can set up a different curve for both fans, not sure why you would want that.

pin 3 is 'sense', basically it can ask the fan "how fast are you running?". Because of the way the splitters work, it can only ask one, but control both (since control is via pin 4)

@Windows95, I've merged the 3 threads you have about Noctua D15 mounting etc. In future, you can use single topic when you have on-going troubleshooting or question with single product like this one.

You’ll be fine either way. I use the splitter.

Yo, what sort of cable management did you do to hide those akward looking cables? i dont get it, i they arent not long enough to hide them, when using the splitter. they are awkardly sitting above the heatsinks or something,

Yup, just shove it into the rubber flap that's right above the fan header and hide it back there...
