LTT Store international shipping costs

caincha

Ok I know Canadian post is what it is and LMG is not taking a cut and this was already addressed on the WAN Show quite a few times but… How about a partnership with a delivery company (FedEx, UPS or any Canadian equivalent) and be able to offer more reasonable shipping costs?

I've accessed the www.lttstore.com a few times only to give up at the checkout when I see the shipping costs to New Zealand. And from what I've seen in the community everyone in the world gets shafted with shipping costs maybe with the exception of North America - and I've seen Llinus say several times on the WAN Show that USA is not the entire world (re: complaints about time of video release and so on).

So why not show the rest of the world some love and try to find a delivery partner? Pretty sure sales would increase by a lot and it would be more and more unlikely to have stock that doesn't sell ;)

Canada Post is cheaper than Fedex or UPS in my experience. Why would they give LTT any additional discounts? It's not like the LTT store is a massive thing.

Welcome to Canada - it's expensive to ship stuff anywhere.

I would imagine they've already investigated shipping rates with all the major carriers.

But, if you think this is a major concern, you should contact LMG themselves - while they do occasionally browse the forums, you can't expect them to even read this thread without at least tagging one of them in your post.

I don't have your experience and I wouldn't assume anything that's why I'm asking.

But yeah good idea to tag someone - I haven't thought about that :P

Thanks

What makes you think FedEx or UPS would be cheaper? It's most certainly not, unless they were doing massive volume.

There are no other shipping companies in Canada that would be cheaper to ship internationally with.

I took a look at what shipping costs are to NZ. How on earth are you finding $9 US to be too expensive? That's an insanely good price.

Sure it's $9 ?

And that's for ONE underwear pack. The more you add on the more expensive it gets (as it would of course).

But to be fair it did got less expensive than it was 2 weeks ago for whatever reason.

Also - and I'm amazed people don't really get this - FedEx/UPS were examples not real suggestion as in 'oh they're the best and the cheapest' but more like 'anyone that provides similar service'. ?

I realised I don't know how to tag either Nick, Colton or Linus himself.

Oh well nevermind them… It's not like I need LTT merch anyway I just would like to buy something but whatever…

Welcome to transcontinental shipping. It's not cheap. Hell, even shipping from Canada to the United States can be a bit pricey. Trust me on this, I've paid quite a bit in shipping for VHS tapes from Canada to make their way over here.

Not to mention, the LTT Store is a fairly low volume storefront with items that basically come out of Canada. It really doesn't get much cheaper unless you want your shipping to take bloody ages.

Well, to be fair I picked Auckland (since I don't know where you live) and it was a shirt, not underwear.

However, I don't understand why you're complaining about spending $17 on shipping...to ship something basically across the planet. You do realize that's a pretty far distance for a package to go, right? What exactly were you expecting it to cost?

We don't get it, because that's not how you worded it.

@nicklmg I know there's likely nothing you guys can do about it, but perhaps a word on how expensive Canadian shipping is might reassure the masses.

We get it - but trust me, Canada Post is pretty much as cheap as it gets for shipping most things in or out of Canada, unless you're a massive retailer that can leverage that for massive discounts - that's not LMG though.

It can be though.

It can also take ages with exorbitant shipping costs however. Especially if the courier is United Postal Service I have painfully learned.

On the other hand I regularly buy sweets from Japan and shipping is free,  takes about 1-2 weeks and so far the items always arrived in 100% perfect condition.

And that's imo how it should be done, especially for goods like merchandise.

If someone wants it faster they gotta pay up obviously.

Yeah that's how Amazon did it...

They aren't as great anymore now huh (at least not here)

But this thing with buying goods from Asia / Japan is different,  they aren't losing money. They simply use the cheapest shipping option.

Can take up to 6 weeks usually depending on when your package actually arrives at the container and how full the ship is at that point. Maybe it's full and the ship leaves immediately,  maybe it's one of the first packages and then it will take weeks until it leaves...

Works same for games,  I bought basically like brand-new games for dirt cheap and shipping was always free,  usually the games even come with working codes for dlc and such...

I have no idea how they do it in this candy shop in Tokyo though,  they say up to 4 weeks but it always arrives within 1-2 weeks lol.  I think they got some connections to make it go faster or something.

When your postal service is heavily subsidized to stimulate your export-based economy, you have these kinds of options.

In Canada there *is* no 6-week option for $2 or we'd offer it. Sorry :(

Yeah,  I know it seems to be an Asian thing. I just honestly didn't know Japan is subsidized like that also though, so I was really surprised. I'm not aware of such shipping options here in Germany either lol.

I think €6.99 is the cheapest package with tracking and insurance and that's just within the in EU afaik,  overseas would obviously be more expensive.

I just looked it up cheapest EU package up to 2kg is $13.99 :o

  • 11 months later...

I was gonna order one of the foil pin shirts but at the end of the day I couldnt do it. I live in Edmonton, so one province over from LTT, and one shirt shipped to my door was gonna be $56 CAD, I just cant bring myself to shell out that much for a single t-shirt. Im not blaming LTT or anything, just saying that there is no way I can justify that.

Unless things have changed, they ship the items like clothing from a US warehouse.

The holofoil shirt is $29.99 USD - that's around $40 CAD - so you're paying about $16 CAD for shipping from the US to Canada. That's not crazy.

If the cost is too much, I'd suggest you get a non-foil shirt instead and save yourself about $15 CAD, or order multiple things to get a better value via shipping.

At the end of the day, buying a shirt from LTT (or any merch from someone similar) is never going to be "good value". You'll always be able to buy shirts for much cheaper from local clothing stores and big online clothing chains. It's simply due to economies of scale.

You buy an overpriced LTT shirt simply because you want to support them, and you happen to get a nice shirt out of it.

I bought the original HighLANder Shirt and Hoodie back in the day. Yeah, it was way overpriced. But the quality was fantastic - I use that hoodie all the time, and the shirt is one of the most comfortable that I own. And it helped out LTT by tossing them a little cash in the process.

Bro, shipping anything is expensive.

Canada post is reasonable price and dont you think Linus searched for cheaper rate or even bargained with CP for cheaper rate. When quantities get larger thats when they can bargain.

$9 for shipping is fair to ship across the entire planet.

If you want cheap, then buy from Walmart and make your own designs with Linus on them, if its allowed.
