What the heck is a "gAMinG cHaIr"

I have been seeing these pop up and they look like cheap oem chinese rebranded chairs, I have a leather plush office roll chair and what makes these chairs "GAMING" i'm assuming this is just gaming marketing to coax 12 year olds into their fortnite setups or somewhat because for the features of a chair they're lacking especially since some of them cost upwards of 300$..

Just some bullshit branding to make the chairs "look cool."

 

Although in my opinion I would embarassed to own a chair like that, then again I am adult

Most of them (FROM DECENT BRANDS) are actually verry nice seats and often sports car seat influenced. BUT sure there is nothing gaming about them. OK there is one with RGB soooo that's gaming then?

 

I build one myself, old Merces seats. Cheap and comfy :D

But general recommendation is to get a nice office chair and be done with it

FOLDING MONTH 2021! GOGOGO and save on some heating costs 🙂

A chair is a chair. You could make an argument certain peripherals can be gaming related (e.g. a mouse), but a chair is there to put your but in..

 

300 USD 'gaming chairs' are mostly 100 USD office chairs with a different look. Most of them are crap, with some exceptions of course.

They took the look of a racing seat that's meant to hold you in place and have a 4 point harness and made it into an office chair. They are the most uncomfortable thing ever and a $180 chair from office max or office depot is much comfy

If you want a comfy chair that is cheap look online for local corporations that are doing furniture refreshes of their board rooms and they'll usually let you have them for super cheap or even free and they've only been sat in infrequently during meetings.

Board rooms usually have chairs poorly suited for office or gaming use (since you don't sit in a board room nearly as long). Proper office chairs are very expensive, though worth it if you have the money.

That is where mine is from and it's the best chair I've ever sat in (I've sat in the chairs of CEOs while doing support for them so it's not like I've only ever sat in shit chairs before) so to each their own I guess ?‍♂️

I have a GTOmega Racing chair (This one in blue) and I find it very comfortable but they are more designed for racing simulators as you can get wheel stands and cockpits etc and they all integrate with the chairs

Exceptions do happen. Good for you. Just be aware it's not going to be possible for everyone to get a good chair that way (there aren't that many board rooms anyway).

smh tbh it's like you can't even find computer parts or components without having the word gaming fucking shoved down your throat, for example I want a mechanical keyboard, I like the feel and the noise and gaming this gaming that ULTIMATE PERFORMANCE GAMING, and even in games I had a 5 dollar mouse keyboard combo and still slayed streamers with the whole "gaming" shebang tbh gaming is pretty stupid marketing term maybe not so much for monitor or mouse, but tbh even gaming monitors are semi stupid, high refresh rate is great for web browsing and general use, plus g sync is maybe the only useful feature for gaming, well and motion blur and response times. but like come on I have seen people market gaming foot rest, whats next gaming cofee maker that turns your coffee into g fuel. gaming car, it drives fast and you don't use gas and steering wheel you use keyboard and mouse. smh in 10 years we're gonna have gaming houses, gaming credit cards, gaming toilets, gaming oxygen, gaming water bottle, gaming shoes.

I have a DXRacer K gaming chair. I'm not sure how these features relate to 'gaming' at all, but the two main reasons that I chose it over a typical office chair are:

A) The seat is super wide and deep and flat  but not squishy and the armrests unbolt entirely, which since I usually sit crosslegged works for me much better than most seats

B) It reclines completely flat (and won't tip over even while reclined past the horizontal), so I can take a short nap at work. 

 

Not saying they don't exist, but I didn't find a typical office chair that did either of those. The metal frame is also very well-built, comparable to similarly priced office furniture, though the PU pleather is kind of shit.

well no, when im gaming i lock the chair upright and lean my back but it doesnt recline, and when im watching youtube videos or ranting on forums (like this one) i recline all the way back and relax.

well tbh i dont know what a recliner and an office chair is, are recliners like large laz boy chairs? because my office chair is leather and it has arm rest adjustment and height adjustment
