You thought RDR2 needed space? - Call of Duty storage requirements

LukeSavenije

I can understand RDR2 with 4k assets and a lengthy campaign and online multiplayer but COD needing more space than RDR2 is a joke. Uncompressed files and poor optimisation as a result of multiple dev / studio teams working on it is often the case with titles that are released annually.

The only games coming close to this are the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 at 150 gigabytes, and Final Fantasy XV with 4k textures at 155 GB

I guessed you never heard of XPlane from 10 years ago. Last install i had to do for my buddy for his new computer it was way over 200 gb

Access times are important. And that's why you should go with 7200rpm over 5400rpm. It was like that in the late 90's early 2000's, and its like that now.
Theoretical transfer rates aren't as important as you think. Otherwise even early SSD wouldn't have made computers feel so much faster.

The only 7,200 rpm drive in my system is a 500GB WD Black, rest are 5,400. I do have a dedicated SSD for game where I think it needs fast storage like GTA V, but the rest of my games are installed into the 5,400 HDD, and running off of those isn't as slow as it seems, or maybe I'm so used to it, where I don't sense any difference.

Flight sims always require a lot more storage space than most other games.

Just got word back from my buddy, His X plane 11 is actually 1.1 TB. That explain why he was asking me to find him a 3tb hdd last year
