If you could have one thing back

Radium_Angel

From your life, something you've lost, sold, traded, etc, what would you want back?

I would generally say only one thing, but I'm going to break my own rules and say two things.

My Lancia 037 (I was an idiot to have sold that...) and Nikki.

Actually, I'd give up everything I have now, my house, my computers, my Ferrari 308GT4, my other cars, everything, just to have her back.

How about you? What do you want back?

You got a bum deal my friend. I traded mine without having to give up my free will, in point of fact, keeping free will was part of the bargain @Tog Driver knows what I'm talking about...

I still think selling one's soul is a really bad idea.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
        In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
        In Flanders fields.

Was Tog, was.

It's in the past. Not much I can do now for getting it back.

My first car, a 1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. I wasn't a skilled enough mechanic at the time to repair it after it broke, so it was donated to charity. Some day I want to get another one. This picture is not great, it's actually blue.

I'd give anything to be surrounded by my extended family again. I haven't lived anywhere near most of my family in over a decade now and I'd give anything back to be in California again, being able to travel to Whittier or Montebello or Chino Hills to visit my family.

Check out my guide on how to scan cover art here!

Probably my one high school friend, she was into Korean music like me and we bonded instantly, unfortunately only knew her for a year before she graduated from school and moved to Iraq.

It's equal parts scary and unifying that most of us are looking to get an old friend or relative back again. That's God's plan for humans right there, we all want each other's company.

Hmm, my old GameCube/Game Bay Advance/Wii U collection.

Life pre depression.

My dad before he let alcoholism fully consume him.

Currently focusing on my video game collection.

It doesn't matter what you play games on, just play good games you enjoy.

As time passes I always find myself thinking of how much better [insert time period here] was, as cliche as it sounds I'd like the "Glory Days" back.

be in California again,

If you could stand being a roommate, that's a common thing around here (Orange County). Depending on why you moved out away in the first place, that might be an in-road to coming back.

As for the main question, I guess I've never really had any sort of attachment to anything like that. I mean, I look back at things and remember how good things were, but I don't think I've yearned to have anything back.

  • 2 weeks later...

Motivation?

Other than that, probably the first computer I did some stuff on - a Philips P5000. Monstrous beast from the 70s with 2 8-inch floppies, my dad had one presumably given to by his employer for his accounting work, although I don't think he was using it much, I remember him working more on paper sheets and a calculator, but then again I was about 4 or 5 at that time so that might not be that accurate, could also have been BS I was told... anyway I had my own floppy to play with and save the stuff I typed in the word processor to. I clearly remember some patterns on the screen probably from the last stuff I did on it, and the inside of the machine.

My parents separated a year or 2 later, then my dad passed away. I very clearly remember the day my mom decided to get rid of the thing and threw it out on the side of the road, and me being like "noooooooo" probably for the same reason I'm on here and playing with computers that was something I was made for - but totally powerless at that time obviously.

Turns out info on this thing is VERY scarse, must have been a pretty rare model. I looked around to try and find some more detailed info about it and happened to come across/exchange a couple of emails with the guy who wrote the OS for it, trying to find if someone had specs or manuals but unfortunately he didn't have any doc to send me. And I'm now totally scared that looking for it revealed that this email exchange actually happened 10 years ago, because it feels like yesterday.
