Some sort of Batman game will be FREE at the Epic Games store NEXT THURSDAY, September 19th, 2019. Looks like they're doing a mystery game for the first time. Not even 100% sure it's a game, it could be a comic book for all I know. I sure hope they don't resort to doing books. That's what Humble does and it's so stupid. Imo, very little people actually care to download free books from a gaming website.

This ⬇️ is all we have to go on. If someone knows what this actually is, leave it in the comments section below.

Bonus Game... Journey of a Roach is FREE right now at IndieGala. Steam link... Journey of a Roach. 866 Very Positive reviews.

Why is the title "FREE 19.99 Steam game"?

It should be "Free $19.99 Epic games game"? Steam has nothing to do with the discount?

Going off the OP's past behavior I think they like to "stick it" to the "Epic Games is bad and Steam is better for the market" crowd.

But yeah, you're not getting a $19.99 Steam game for free, you're getting an EGS game for free. Steam doesn't have exclusivity deals AFAIK so is there really anything that counts as a "Steam game"?

Because you're getting a $19.99 Steam game for free. Of course Steam has nothing to do with the discount but Steam has everything to do with the game. And every other free game being given out by Epic. If you were to put two PC's right beside each other and ran the Steam version of the game on one PC and the Epic Games version on the other PC, you will be staring at the exact same games being played on both PC's.

One would run it through Epic Games and one through Steam. It's not a Steam game if it's on the Epic Games Store because it's not on the Steam store so it's not a Steam game:

^^^ I can't say I got a Steam game for $1.76 because I bought KOTOR II off GoG on sale, I bought a GoG game through the GoG store. If you get a free game through the EGS, they're giving you a free EGS game. Not pulling one from Steam, magically making it use EGS for DRM vs Steam (there are DRM free games on steam though), then installing it to your PC.

Epic Games Store free titles are Epic Games Store free titles. You can say "Game free on EGS - $19.99 on Steam" and that would be true. But "Free $19.99 Steam Game at EG" is misleading, it's not a fucking game from Steam lmao.

If EGS were something like HumbleBundle that handed out Steam keys for some games, then you would be correct.

Exactly. So you are not getting a free "STEAM game", you are just getting a free  "Game".

Free "STEAM game" would imply you are getting a free game that is playable on steam, and that is simply not true, you are getting an EGS key, not a Steam one.

Example where it is used correctly:

"Free $19.99 Steam game at Humblebundle until sep 12th." (You are getting a steam key, the game is playable at steam with that key)

But honestly whatever, you will keep doing it, and it is not annoying enough to put more energy into it. Just know that it is technically false and i don't like it.

Misleading or not, pretty sure you get the game for free provided you click on the link and install it. It's a game available to purchase for $19.99 on Steam, in which you get to download and play for free at Epic Games.

10 hours ago, Origami Cactus said:

I never titled anything as free Steam Game, you did. I titled it as FREE $19.99 Steam Game at EG. It is correct to say that you are getting a game available to purchase for $19.99 on Steam, for free at the Epic Games store. That is what my title is intended to say.

Again, never titled it as Free "STEAM game". I titled it as FREE $19.99 Steam Game at EG. And Epic Games doesn't use keys. So how could that statement be true? You get zero keys for free from Epic Games.

So are GOG games Steam games too? I mean, the ones available on both platforms anyways. What about Metro Exodus? That was sold on Steam.

Point being, calling it a free Steam game makes it sound like it's free on Steam, or at the very least available through Steam, like the Humble giveaways. This game isn't produced by Steam, nor is it free on the Steam platform, so it's not a "free Steam game" it's a free EGS game.

And in the case of it being the "exact same games" that's not explicitly true. At the very least This War of Mine has Steam workshop support, which is present in the Epic version, at least... I think it is. It might not be actually, there's fragments and remnants, but not the full support. But you can't actually use any Steam Workshop mods, and since Steam doesn't make them publicly available, you can't download them and do it manually. Same applies for the GOG version. So it has reduced "usability" and it's an expected feature since mod support is on the main menu.

Pretty sure that's a publisher decision, Steam doesn't have agreements binding them to only Steam.

GOG versions of old games often run better or include fixes Steam doesn't. That and the ability to install it wherever/whenever I want are the main reasons I buy old Star Wars games and such off GOG instead of steam. Only really used Steam Workshop for ARMA III so it's never been a big need feature for me, can see how lacking that would suck for people used to it though.

That is what I'm saying. That it is available through Steam. In which I label as a $19.99 Steam game that you are getting for free... at Epic Games. You are getting a game for free, in which you pay $19.99 to get the Steam version, for $0.00 at Epic Games for the Epic Games version of the game.

Could care less about all of this. I just play the game. On the Epic Games launcher. For free. Not $19.99. I'm playing a game valued at $19.99 by Steam for free at Epic Games. I can 100% the game on either platform. I'm going to choose the free version over the $19.99 version 100% of the time.

I don't care if they are binded to 1 platform or 195 platforms. I'm playing the free Epic Games version. Which just so happens to be almost the exact same version(excluding these mods or workshop bs y'all are referring to). Thus a $19.99 game for free. Whether it's a Steam game, a GOG game or a Sally Field game, I don't care. And my future titles will most definitely reflect this.

Yeah, and? It's still only available on Steam, thus exclusive to Steam. Hence why Steam is also practically a monopoly and doesn't bother to ensure their shit works since they're the only source for 70,000+ games.

It's when the only real mod support is through Steam workshop that's the problem. The Witcher 3 for instance has most... maybe all, I have the GOG version... has most if not all mods off Steam and publicly available. There's no problem there. But in the case with TWOM and a bunch of other games, the main mod support is through Steam Workshop, which is a closed and encrypted mod resource, which is retarded and kind of self defeating.

But otherwise, yeah. GOG puts more effort into make sure their games actually work since old games is their entire shtick. Still though, some things end up being broken in the process.

That is what I'm saying. That it is available through Steam. In which I label as a $19.99 Steam game that you are getting for free... at Epic Games. You are getting a game for free, in which you pay $19.99 to get the Steam version, for $0.00 at Epic Games for the Epic Games version of the game.

But isn't it also $20 on EGS when not on giveaway? So why isn't a $20 EGS game for free? I'm sure you could also find on sale at other sites too.

That's like saying free $1,000 Best Buy Apple laptop at Amazon. You'd have to be a fucking lunatic to talk like that. Best Buy doesn't have anything to do with it.

*Edit, I'll be fine with it if a game goes free on Steam that's on GOG or Epic, and you say "Free $x.xx GOG/Epic game on Steam"

Because then it would be talking like a lunatic, but consistently. And it'd be funny.

See, this bothers me. What you actually meant to say was you couldn't care less. You're implying you actually do care about it.

And I wouldn't have mentioned it if you didn't bring it up, so you did that 4 year old thing, where you say something and then cover your ears and go "LALALALALA I'm not listening! I don't care!"

Probably. I never check EG prices so I wouldn't know. It would be my guess that you are correct though.

100% correct on this. I post them all the time.

Always down to make people laugh.

I guess I never learned to say "couldn't care less" instead of "could care less" when I mean that I don't care. Gotta remember, I slept throughout all my education.

Anyways, according to PCGamer, (And the image on Epic) the batman picture is a 80th celebration image, but they're all Lego. So... it's probably a Lego Batman game. Which is cool I guess.

Here's my theory...

I think Epic will be giving out this Batman Arkham Collection along with whatever Lego Batman games those are. If I am right, it will be nothing short of EPIC because I've been patient as can be with obtaining PC versions of both Batman Arkham Asylum and Batman Arkham City. I played them both on Xbox 360 and loved them to death. Super excited to play them in 1440p at 100+ fps. As for Batman Arkham Knight, it's terribly unoptimized and getting it to run comfortably and stable provides going into the configuration files and tweaking things there. I got rid of the game only because it took up a ton of space on my HDD at the time but I just got another 3TB a few weeks ago so now I'm ready to reinstall it. Hope I can remember all the tweaks and that Season Pass if I'm not mistaken has some interesting goodies. As for the Lego Batman games, I'm a pretty big fan. I have the first one on my PC and play it around once every few months. Got it for free from Humble like half a year ago or so. I'd totally install all the other Lego Batman games.

P.S. That collection just so happens to be $19.99. And the amount of games available to purchase for $19.99 on Steam that Epic Games has given out for free leans into the direction of this actually happening.

Doesn't that say it's $60 and you save $20 in the package deal, or are my eyes super fucked?

I find it a little hard to believe that Epic would be giving away both the Arkham and Lego collections for a total of over $100.

I'm retarded. I totally overlooked that.

I don't, for two reasons. One, usually when a sale happens in one place on certain games, it's going to happen in other places on certain games. And two, currently at Humble... Batman Arkham Collection and Lego Batman Trilogy.

$27.50 isn't that tough of a task for Epic. They've given away games valued at far more than that. Plus both these collections hit these prices very regularly...

Lego Batman Trilogy...
