Go to the pc part picker general on 4chan instead

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Depends on the subreddit, but yeah, most of that site is a big circlejerk.

It's all very toxic. But believe me...The real secret to unleashing that ultimate toxicity within them is to mention two letters: F and X. Combine those two letters together and you get FX.

They get angry as soon as you mention such a legendary pair of letters.

And then an argument breaks out. BIG TIME.

It involves fires and houses and all sorts of nonsense. And then a sensible group will come in and tell them the reality, and they just can't take it.

Reddit is a little bit unmoderated and voting as a means of producing a better quality post is often poor, as opposed to proper moderating with guidelines.

Welcome to reddit, if there is a bigger group of jackoffs in one area, it's found only in a gay porno.

Post the pic of your rig here, we are friendly.

Stay away from reddit, stay here or Arstechnica, instead.

NOTE: I no longer frequent this site. If you really need help, PM/DM me and my e.mail will alert me.

Linus likes to joke about PC master race but I don't think he takes it seriously. This whole PC master race was meant to be a joke but some people haven taken it to the next level, making it toxic. If you like consoles, play consoles, if you prefer PC to anything else, use PC - it doesn't change who you are, it won't make you worse or better.

It being toxic is part of the meme.

The whole PC Master Race thing spawned off of a reviewer who used it as a joke to poke fun at snobby PC gamers. But then said snobby PC gamers took it and ran with it.

Such is the way of the internet I suppose.

EDIT: If you're curious about its origin:

It's Reddit, did you expect some kind of paradise where everyone is nice to each other?

If you have any self respect, don't go there.

To be honest, console producers make good meme arguments for PC master race when announcing and presenting a console and its specs :D. It often sounds like "revolutionary" new stuff ... for console, maybe. PC's have had those features for quite long then.

I made the experience that the internet is a place for many people who bring over all their problems from the real world and then let go of their frustration, insecureness and other flaws they have, resulting in a very toxic environment, at least in the parts that are not strictly moderated. Also, no one admits to be wrong ;)

Yes, rude if you have the wrong opinion. I got auto-banned from a sub because I am following/posting the wrong sub.

Reddit's upvoting and downvoting system makes for some hardcore karma farmers, and as a result, their mindset is solely focused on that.

I wouldn't use 'PC Master Race' in any serious conversation because it is a joke-ish label for PC gamers and it's all preference, but Reddit does take it very seriousy.

Reddit in general is, as others have said.

But I would say a solid 50% of PC Gamers generally do have a snobby, ignorant and pathetic attitude towards other platform gamers - or generally anyone with an opinion relating to gaming/PCs different to their own

To me, two kinds of people follow the whole 'PC Master Race' thing:

  • People who have a decent sense of humour and do so for shits and giggles
  • Sweaty neck beards

Personally, I couldn't give two fucks what someone else wants to game on and feel no superiority over someone with an XBONE with my custom loop beefy pc

DISCLAIMER

Everything i say is my own opinion. So if you disagree with what I post, you are wrong.

Yes. r/pcmasterrace is mostly composed of angsty teens and social rejects.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

That's Reddit for you. A lot of PC related subreddits can be quite toxic, and some do feel like PC is superior to every other platform (of course, not every person on r/pcmasterrace is like this but there are definitely some that can be very toxic).

I haven't really been on that sub in quite a while, but when I was active in it, it was wasn't very toxic. I mean there were definitely toxic people on there, just like any other online community, but it was more people just helping others out. It's sad to here it went downhill.

4chan isnt that bad tbh, and its nowhere near as annoying as most of the subreddits are. Theres always going to be people trying to be edgy or offensive regardless off what sitr youre on.
