Cheapest GPU for Windows only (3440x1440)

Tax

I need to find the cheapest possible GPU that can run Windows at that resolution (3440x1440). Integrated graphics would work fine but this build will be using Ryzen 3000.

So far I found the GT710.

I can do the research if it supports the resolution, if you have suggestions that could work let me know.

The GT 710 can technically output at that resolution (it could even output at 4K) but it would not be an enjoyable experience. What’s your budget? Country? Usage for the card?

I got a ps5 and a pc pretty ballin

When you say that you need it to run Windows at that resolution, do you mean you literally only need it to be able to push out the OS at the scale and you don't have any games or more taxing programs for it?

There's a difference between cheap and value. The GT 710 is only going to get you 30 FPS at that resolution, and if you're doing anything other than spreadsheets, it will look like crap. You'd be better off with something like an RX 550 or GT 1030 off the used market.

I can run currently on Integrated graphics, using Intel. Budget is the cheapest I could run it the same as integrated graphics, but using Ryzen 3000.

Yes. Same as an integrated graphics from intel.

Yeah I'm still researching about that. HDMI with 50FPS would be ideal I guess.

Ok??? You didn’t really answer all my questions but maybe try looking for a Radeon R9 380, RX 470 (4gb model is cheaper) or something similar. They can be found used for cheap.

Ryzen is better and cheaper. The problem I'm seeing is, if I have to pay 70 usd for a GPU to go with it I'll have to think about it again.

Never knew I'd value integrated graphics as much as I do now.

Exactly my point.  Intel CPU may be less expensive than Ryzen + GPU.

That sad, is the 2400G not enough CPU power for your needs?

The cheapest? if you have diplayport, i think amd r7 240 / r7 250 can do 4K at 30fps or less at higher refresh rate.

I think the DVI ccan do 2560x something...

r7 250 is 20-25$ on eBay.. ex: https://www.ebay.com/itm/9C8C0-AMD-ATI-Radeon-R7-250-2GB-DVI-DisplayPort-Standard-Profile-Video-Card/223498882563?hash=item3409924e03%3Ag%3ALhIAAOSwgYtcx4ef&LH_BIN=1

Also a nVidia GT210 may do up to 4k.. you can find cheap refurbished cards

Did the GTX 950 have HDMI 2.0? I thought that was something that started with the 960, but thinking about it more, the 950 was just a cut-down 960, so it would make sense to have it there?

@Tax, Star's suggestion of a 470 makes sense. You can pick up an RX 570 on eBay for $75 shipped right now if you're willing to play the "best offer" game, which is less than a new 1030 or 550 would cost you.

No, it does not.

GT 210 tops at 2560x1600p

@Tax What exactly is this PC going to be used for? Because it's weird to need a super high end CPU, high end display and not need a GPU at all aside for display adaptation.

If you want a powerful CPU with inexpensive graphics support and decently enough priced the best alternative for you would be a locked i7 8700 on a b360 motherboard.

It doesn't; I've tried. Even if it did, simple 4k playback would probably nuke it. The GT 210 is an HD media/Windows 98 gaming card.

Alright so here's the deal:

I need to be productive in the next 6 months, and I can't do it if I have a high end GPU sitting there waiting to be used.

My current computer would do fine for the 6 months but my father needs it, so I need one from scratch.

I'm buying Ryzen 3600 or 3700x depending on reviews, for my future usage including gaming.

So I need to run Windows for the next 6 months for productivity (basically studying, coding, stuff like that) and I don't want to waste money buying stuff that I won't use early next year already.

Ryzen was a settled choice for me, but my old GPU broke last month so it kind of ruined my plan. (it was old enough that it didn't allow much gaming so it was okay)

Probably buying something like a 2080 or equivalent early next year, so my goal was to get my Ryzen already and use anything that could run my monitor's resolution on Windows like the integrated graphics of my i7 4770.

Fair enough, I'll insist on an i7 8700 locked being a great alternative for you, it will suffice on average desktop usage and productivity by every mean as it's still the best hexacore processor on the market and a 3600X will only at best match it.

It also is a perfectly high end gaming CPU which you can pair with a RTX 2080 later with no such thing as "bottlenecking".

Oh... forgot about HD 5450 and similar, for example here's a low profile card that should do up to $k @ 30 Hz on the DisplayPort output : 16$  ebay link

If you straighten up the bracket it can sit just fine in a slot.

May be worth looking into old nVidia workstation cards like Quadro K600 for example  - it has DisplayPort 1.2 and claims it can do 4K at 60 Hz.

Here's ebay link for a 23$ card : ebay link  and another for 18$ in US: ebay link

Here's nVidia literature showing 4K at 60 hz : https://www.nvidia.com/content/dam/en-zz/Solutions/design-visualization/quadro-product-literature/DS_NV_Quadro_K600_OCT13_NV_US_lr.pdf
