The 12 cores will be released on Computex, however the release of the 16 core is in question.

The engineering samples for both of these are on the final stages, but rumors say that the 16 will be released near the end of the summer or even later.

How about releasing the 16 core now, so that the intel 10-cores look weak in comparasion?

It is not like intel can change the design of the chips anyway, so what harm would releasing the chips now do?

so 3700x on sale in july?

AMD themselves already showed the ryzen 3000 8 core beating the 9900k at cinebench at lower wattag, so it will be faster.

The 12 cores are also very relayable leaks.

There was nothing wrong with your posts, but you just posted 20 leaks a day, and while 1 a day is a bit annoying, seeing the exactly same thing 20+ times is just....

I will link my necesarry link:

No kidding.  Death to the 9900k LOL ,, and I bet it does it with less then 5Ghz cores unless I'm wrong.

Its like show me the money!  I still find it hard to believe they will have a 16 core for under 500 dollars.

i mean the only thing pointing to that is very old rumours.

Intel sets nice roadmaps while AMD crawls under a rock.

yeah a slide like what intel shows to its partners is nice, but sadly they dont really have enough products to do that.

1 minute ago, Turtle Rig said:

Doesn't make sense that is ThreadRipper ground.

6 and 8 cores was HEDT 2 years ago.

like nothing is stopping them from pushing the envelope when Intel is following pursuit.

Personally I think Windows 98 SE was the best OS ever WIndows95 my friend.  Well we still don't know what AMD will do.  Will they release POS chips first then the good ones later.  Who knows.  This whole AMD thing is getting old very fast.  Their 8 core better beat a 9900k which the chap up top said it does, and I believe him.  So I can't imagine a 12 core.  That would really smack the 9900k big time.  We still don't know if Ryzen will go double digits in Cores but we do know ThreadRipper comes in Auguest or September and that will be their HEDT non consumer chips.

History has shown that AMD doesn't even have to "beat" Intel to be competitive. They just need to be "almost as good" and "good enough", with some lateral improvement, at a lower price, and they'll sell well.

With that in mind, the 8/16 will probably be about the same as the 9900k just cheaper, and the 12/24 will be the halo product, with the 16/32 being held in reserve as the Trump card in the event Intel launches something good.

IMO.

intel is roadmapping 10 cores, rumours about intel says 10 cores. what makes double digits on AM4 improbible

You really think there will be 16 core consumer Ryzen ?  What about ThreadRipper ?  Would that be 24c and 32c and 64c ?

TR is more than just cores, it's memory bandwidth and also pcie lanes.

I also don't think it's unreasonable to just increase core counts on TR.

Intel has had much worse history differentiating between consumer and HEDT lines tbh.

I don't think it's weird at all, especially with the whole chiplet design.

i was going to wait an additional 3 months post release to buy it but im going insane i may just wait 1 month and that should clear the waters after a month of mass global testing to see if its legit and stable

Come one, we're talking about a company with only a fraction the income (and employees) of a global super giant..

I'll tell you what.. If AMD can produce a processor that comes close, or edges marginally better than say, Microsofts, I'll buy one okay?

I'm a tad worried at how the 12 and 16 core will perform on games with 2 chiplets, though i'm building a 16 core rig for sure, will see how much faster the 8 core is compared to the 9900k for a gaming rig, but gotta wait for new gpus anyway.

Can't find news about delays, so still looks like july~.

Don't be in a rush to buy a CPU with more than four cores. Wait for the benchmarks, because often what happens is that the fastest CPU isn't the one with the most cores.

https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html

At present the "best" performing CPU is the Intel Core i9-9900K @ 3.60GHz, the fastest AMD chip is the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2920X, and is a good 24% less performance.

Now compare the multithread score

https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare/AMD-Ryzen-Threadripper-2920X-vs-Intel-i9-9900K/3354vs3334

The AMD chip has a 8% higher score than the Intel score in multithread. The AMD chip is 12 cores, the Intel is 8. The AMD consumes twice as much energy than the Intel part.

Hence, I'm hesitant to want to buy the AMD CPU without seeing the real benchmarks. Given the recent MDS, and other speculative execution vulnerabilities patches, it actually removes Intel's advantage.
