Are you seriously now going into attack-dog mode for a reason?  Luke and I settled the misunderstanding and now you just want to kick me when I'm down?  I stated where my info was based on, 2 lists (that turned out to be missing the specific model, blah blah blah) and what my interpretation was from a 1 hour buildzoid summary of Asus boards. OH sorry if I sound rude, all I meant is that if you cant distinguish between these two similarly named boards but different looking boards like this, just count inductors. I could totally name out more boards that look similar, named similarly, but very different at its core (i.e. X570-F and X570-E)

Fair enough

 

The lack of easy ability to get google to produce the exact stats on the X570 Prime-P just cements for me how highly technical and not friendly to newcomers VRM quality assessment is.  The product pages don't want to tell you any details, the roundups can be missing models, and then you get a huge google doc full of details because no website seems to bother hosting details in a nice package like that.

I know that...  I also brought up all websites, not just Asus's product page.  Also if they (motherboard companies) bother to list technical specs, you'd think they wouldn't want to hide their VRM phases from the enthusiasts if they have nothing to hide.  On cheaper boards, sure they do, but if they bother to post really technical stuff, they should bother to up-sell their VRM on higher-end boards when they want the techies to know what they used (and justify the higher price tag).

I mean, they're already calling the TUF X570 board "12+2 with Dr. MOS power stage" so that's good enough for them, I think. This is already after the knockback from technical people that multiple sets of components turning on and off together count as a single phase, otherwise they would happliy call their board 12+2 phase with Dr. Mos.

Asus and Gigabyte's larger heatsink boards like the TUF Pro and Aorus Elite is comparable to the B450 I Aorus Pro. Small heatsink boards like the B450 TUF Plus, DS3H are much worse.

 

MSI's choice of components are better than others on B450 so that needs a different standard. Big heatsink boards like the Tomahawk, Gaming Pro Carbon, A Pro and ATX Gaming Plus are better than the B450 I Aorus Pro. Smaller heatsink is found on mATX models like the Pro VDH, which I thick is similar if not a tad worse than the ITX Aorus Pro.

This is missing the Z390 Gaming X (but if I recall correctly, it's same as this line, Tier-B, should have same VRM as Gaming SLI, its close cousin).

 

Also the Gaming 5 is a Z370 board, not Z390.  (and, well... they also slap the word AORUS in front of it as they're known to do, "Z370 AORUS Gaming 5")

1.4v is too high for sustained all core workloads, I'd keep it at 1.35v. It's alright if AMD's algorithms push more voltage for single core workloads but not more on all cores.

A bit early to be planning that.  By that time we'll likely have the 4900x or whatever, and who knows what the best value 12-core CPU will be.   Hah, who knows, maybe Intel will bother to arrive to the sub 14nm party with a CPU that matters.  So much could happen!

Well, the 4000 will going to drop 3000 price down so $400 or $350 for 12c/24t seems to be a good deal for me.

Many buyers expected the prior Intel 8th Gen CPUs to get cheaper when the 9th Gen came out, but then there was mass shortage in the industry when Intel shorted their desktop CPU supply amid their (someone still ongoing) 10nm debacle.  That made for crap prices on both Gens while no one could get enough supply, and made AMD some extra sales.

Well, Ryzen 3000 do drop Ryzen 2000 prices down a lot. $120 for 2600 and $190 for 2700x.

I dont know how much voltage it decides to run on under lower power and current limits (set by each individual boards), so I cannot tell.
