Should I buy RX 580 that was used for mining ?

Hello
I found a used RX 580 Nitro+ 4GB card ,it was used for mining for about 8-10 months, fan speed at 50% , the temps were never over 65-70°C.
The bios is unchanged.
It's a reputable seller so it should be true, he had about 60 GPU's so he probably knows how to mine.
The card still has about 11 months warranty from the electronic shop he bought it from.
Is it safe to buy ?
And will the warranty hold because it was used for mining, he told me it should but I'm a little bit worried

Yeah it's fine. Same thing if it was used for gaming. It's not like GPUs have a fixed lifetime

Just keeping this here as a If it's a great deal I would! I've bought used cards with no problems. Mining cars aren't any different and are sometimes taken care of even better.

Yea I was just insecure I guess, they don't thermal cycle and all that, some people say it's better kept than ones used for gaming because the temps are constant.

Most mining cards are under volted and ran at a constant load which isn't harmful to the card at all. I would just make sure the heatsink/fans are nice and clean and make sure a custom BIOS wasn't flashed to it. It's extremely common for people to flash mining BIOS to AMD cards.

 

Edit: There's no way for them to tell you were mining on a card or not. Warranty will still be in good standing.

Well he said the bios was unchanged, original. Everything is clean and it was probably undervolted. I already purchased the card.

I don't need 8GB for not even 1080p atm. And considering my current CPU is a bottleneck I really don't need 8GB for now.

The price is good, I can't compare prices because the prices here are much higher but it's a good deal.

I sold my 1050ti added about 20e and bought this.

The warranty is from a normal store, there are no transferable waranties in my country, it doesn't matter who sends it to repair if it breaks.

It's just a piece of paper that says warranty until some date.

I already ordered the GPU.

And the amount of Memory has little to do with the resolution. 

That's a fairy tale from 10 years ago when the Memory was in Megabyte.

With Gigabyte Memory, the resolution plays little role.

Who cares if we talk about 32, 64 or even 128MiB Framebuffer? That's not relevant.

The textures are.

And you can use more than 4GiB VRAM in 1080p with modern Games. For example the new Resident Evil uses rediculously high resolution content. You break the 4GiB easily.

 

The claim that the VRAM has something to do with the Resolution is from a time where the difference between 6MiB and 64MiB Framebuffer was relevant. Today it is not relevant.

An example: Right now, in Assasin's Creed Odyssey, just riding along Macedonia, with mostly max details, MSI Afterburner says its about 5GiB VRAM right now...
