Rtx 2060 what you think was good and bad about the launch ?

My opinion the launch of the RTX 2060 is that their was a lot of repeat from the 2070 and 2080/Ti launch showing raytracing performance and then with DLSS, but this time the frames rates were more put out their and from leaks saying it will be a little lower or the same than the 1070 were proving wrong. When it was shown beating a 1070 Ti when at launch the 1070 Ti was not appreciated because of how close it was to the 1080. So we are looking at a 1060 with 1080 performance which if it is on par with what NVIDIA said it will make a gpu market difference for the low end consumer. At least until Amd have their new cards released with mabey 2080 performance for only $250 although this is not confirmed. It would be a promising step forward for amd to take the lower end gpu market again. I am not here to here you guys argue with my option tho and just want to know what your guys thoughts where on the 2060 launch.

it can be a nice card. though we have yet to actually see.

more importantly, Freesync on Nvidia Cards. that is honestly more interesting after all this time

if the 2060 will have 1080 performance, the 2070 has no reason to exist.

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

They did say show it is about 5-10% above a 1070Ti which is 24% behind a 1080 according to userbenchmark so ya the only 2070 improvement would be more vram

Its cheaper than a 1070 and better than it, so the price is actually very good

Didn't the review Linus did mention something like 40 different RTX2060 SKU's from Gigabyte in the works?  Seems overly complicated for one product.

Its a 2060 ..compare it against the 1060.

like u compare the 1060 vs the 960 ..and the 960 vs the 760 and so on.

Its better than the 1060 ..good so it should be ...but its also $100+ more expensive, a full tier. not acceptable.

I've got some mixed views on this thing.

  • In it's current state, RTX serves no purpose on this card. It doesn't preform acceptably.
  • You are paying for tech you can't use.
  • If they release a GTX 1160, they would kill the RTX 2060.
  • 1070ti performance but a max of 6gb of vram?

It would make more sense to me if it had 8gb vram, or if it wasn't the bottom card for $350 minimum.

I hope ray tracing develops, but they may have left themselves open for 7nm Navi.

OK, so I can't fathom the actual point of an RTX 2060, let alone the half a dozen different variants of the same die... 3gb/6gb and GDDR5/GDDR6.

It's almost like nvidia thought.. we've got all these failed 2080/2070 die's... so lets throw them out as a 2060 and try and fool the gullible into buying them.

You won't be able to do RTX on games at any kind of acceptable FPS... and there's only what... 3 current games supporting RTX at the moment... Yeah, I know more are coming.

But in it's current state... it's a waste of money buying into the RTX niche... unless you have more money than you know what to do with (in which case, could I suggest donating to charity) and/or you are one of those people who must have the latest bit of shiny for bragging rights and a fashion statement. neither of which I'm able to comprehend if I'm honest... I just don't get the mentality of wasting money.

From what I've read and seen so far, the 2060 gives close to 1070 performance... but the 1070's have more headroom for overclocking to stretch the lead... and given the price points of both cards (I'm in the UK, so we get screwed over here)... Both cards are priced within £20 of each other... So I'd recommend getting a 1070 now and waiting for the RTX cards to reach 2nd or 3rd gen before buying.

I'm not saying RTX is a waste of time... just that it is 'right now'

Give it a year or two, when most games are able to make use of it, when AMD has their version of it out for some competition in the market to drive prices more for the benefit of consumers.

Think of it like VR... it's been around for a couple of years now (in it's latest iteration) but it's not gained traction yet, it's still a niche product within a niche market. It's expensive and you need an expensive rig to run it properly. Personally I think AR is more interesting than VR... mainly because whenever a product comes out that is wearable and makes the user look a little daft whilst using it... History shows that it tends to fail.  AR on the other hand has proven to be popular to the masses (think pokemon go)... and if them meld the two properly, and bring the price down... I think that's a winner.

But I digress... VR and RTX... too expensive for the masses... give it a couple more years before taking the plunge unless you've got money to burn... in which case... please help out a charity and the needy, and buy a 1070/1080 instead.  :)

NO RGB aside from MB and AIO pump. Triple 27" Monitor setup (1x 144hz, 2x 75hz, all freesync/freesync 2)

IIRC 2060 is closer to 1070ti.
