When you buy a $25 gift card, the franchisee gives you a coupon for any 6" sub for $1

So you pick the most expensive sub on the menu, of course the Steak and Lobster sub ;)

Not only do you have to pay $1 for any 6" sub, but it has to be from the Subway you bought the $25 gift card from.

What a ripoff, understandable though. But still, I bought a bunch for different people because I eat there all the time.

Luckily I never bought any while on the road.

Also the chicken at Subway, is half soy.

What a ripoff!

I never get the chicken!

How many of you eat at Subway?

On the road, thats where I eat, all the time.

26hrs to Vegas non stop!

Subways all the way.

Mr Sub is good.

Bad Ass Jacks subs are the best I have ever eaten. Not many around. Used to be a chain at one time.

Blimpies Sub used to be good, but they are long gone.

Same with the Willy's hamburgler joint, I miss that place. Been gone for 30 yrs now :(

McDonalds is an absolute barf/diaherra fest, but their $1 drink days are good!

Mexican, no way! Much Burrito/Taco Time/Taco Bell is not to be even thought about nor looked at. Its a bathroom break just waiting to happen.

Where do you eat when you are on the road?

I stay away from Chinese/Vietnamese restaraunts.

Also 7-eleven is good for their patatoe wedges and Big Gulps.

Sonic is awesome, wish they were in Canada.

Cracker Barrel or Bob Evans

I am not familiar with those joints, as long as its fast and you wont get sick off their shit then its fair game. I dont like to get in and get out and back on the road asap.

I try to give places a try or two, but Mucho Burrito failed because everytime I eat there I had to go to the washroom. Its funny because with food, my stomach is real sensitive, but when I am downing gallons of vodka its strong as ox, nyet?!

As an ex-subway employee. The adage "once you work in the fast food industry you'll never want to eat fast food again" is definitely true.

To answer your question though, a Wawa just opened up by my house and I can tell it'll be my regular stop for food/drink on my way to school (was Racetrac)

No, I mean literal H&S violations. Food well out of spec in temperatures, improper sanitary protocols, a "oh shit the health inspector is coming make sure it looks nice today" mentality overall. Never eating at Subway again.

Yeah well watch any W5 or Marketplace tv show. Its pretty bad because the owners want to reduce cost and the employee's are not trained because that costs money. Restaurants fair no better but a good valuation is how clean their bathrooms are, and if its an open kitchen that is somewhat good.

Domino's is all over the world now,  I've ordered in Barcelona and Moscow. There's an open concept one by me, I've ordered their once and eat there. Its somewhat automatic.

I can say, that summarizes my experience. I have a lot of cooking/food preparation experience from my personal life. I got thrown in, taught how their organization structure was (which made 0 sense), then got told to go out and make sandwiches. I didnt mine the work, the people killed it though.

Yeah, I think it's a lot worse these days compared to when I worked in fast food. Those were the "golden years" because there wasn't a whole lot of people who wanted/needed to work in fast food so the employees actually had some power over managers. We still got paid horribly and treated badly, but if there was a health concern or another unsafe/unsanitary issue we would refuse to open the store until it was resolved regardless what management said, which worked out really good for us because we had managers that would come in after hours on their days off to clean/fix things to ensure the employees never had a reason to complain. At the time a lot of us were in school so we relied on those jobs so we weren't going to let the place get shutdown or get a bad review/grade because management wanted to cut corners.

How weak are people's stomachs here to where Taco Bell just destroys their intestines?

I eat Subway on rare occasions. I just get a Spicy Italian with only the meats, mustard, mayonnaise and pickles. It's good.

Definitely need to ask for THE FEAST footlong with bacon (oh glorious bacon), double meat, and double pepper jack cheese. Toast it! For the rest (for me): spinach, tomato, pickles, black olives, jalapeños, red onion, salt and pepper, and a mix of ranch and chipotle southwest. Miss Vickies jalapeño chips, large Dr. Pepper.  To end it off, a half dozen raspberry cheesecake cookies.

Did I mention subway employees hate me?

Worked in a KFC during high school for a bit. I've never eaten at a KFC since...

Anyhow as far as Subway is concerned I avoid the locations nearest my place like the plague. The franchisees owning them are extremely cheap and the condiments are rarely fresh, like browning lettuce and green or soggy overripe tomato slices. I don't like tomato anyway, so the latter doesn't concern me much.

I typically get the Italian BMT on Italian or herbs and cheese bread topped with provolone cheese, lettuce, spinach, onions, peppers, sometimes mayo depending on mood, oil and vinegar, and salt and pepper. I then wash it down with some sparkling water or Vitamin water. I don't drink soda.

I agree. It's been years since I've gotten sick eating Taco Bell. Sure it's not that good but it's more edible than some of the aforementioned Subway locations. I got food poisoning from ordering a breakfast sandwich at one of them a few months ago because I was lazy and couldn't be bothered to drive out to a better location that day.

Violent diarrhea, nausea and cramping ensued for a solid 3 days. ?

I eat there sometimes. Not often but sometimes I get a craving for a cold cut with jalapeños. Other than that I avoid it. I mostly go to places where I can avoid consuming a lot of carbs, so I usually go to places where I can get some non breaded wings like hooters and get a ton of wings. If I don't want to spend a lot of money I've been known to go to Racetrac and get some hotdogs without the buns. Chik Fil A is also a place I go since the nuggets are good and can get that side salad.

My favorite place for a sub is either Which Which or Firehouse. Jimmy Johns can work if it's the only thing around.

First time I had a subway was on a trip to California a long time ago. Since then, they started appearing everywhere in the UK and there is one at a local shopping center I can walk to. If I go there for other reasons, I usually stop and get one. I like them. If I'm unhealthy I like a footlong breakfast sub. Otherwise I try and get something healthier.

For travelling, I eat at whatever I pass by when I want to eat. If general, I look for small local places, and avoid chains. On my most recent trip to California at the end of last year, I did look in a couple 7-11 and was unable to locate anything that looked like a meal in there. Snack foods and candy. Well, I would still eat it, but it isn't something I consider real food.
