The only time I eat subway, is when I'm going to be donating blood in the next hour or so. I get the steak "foot long" sub with plenty of veggies.
It's sort of a ... tradition at this point for me.
It's always good to be quite full and well hydrated(500ml+ of water before and after) when donating blood to recover the loss of liquid, vitamins and iron... Even more so when I consider that out of all the time I've donated(13, will be 14 next week), the only time I didn't eat was when I had a drop of blood pressure that caused complications, that wasn't fun and could totally stop someone who is donating for the first time from donating ever again.

Tim Hortons and McDonalds

Eeeeewwww

Tim Hortons and their frozen food. Nothing is even fresh, besides the tomatoes and coffee and lettuce.

Everytime I go into one, I always joke with them, asking if its fresh hahahahaha

besides that way too much sugar, but if I must I get a bagel, nice frozen dough bagel reheated by a food service employee.

Yeah that's a good point but even some wraps can have a lot of carbs like bread, but still a better option. Of course I think I'd go for a salad before a wrap lol

You make a good point, as the bread turns into sugar quickly. I now eat Flax or 100% Whole Wheat. I have cut my Subway usage now. I still like their drink fountain machine as they got soda water. I know one hands on owner, well I've seen him. He owns 5 stores, all in the same neighborhood. Subway in the Home Depot, Subway across the parking lot 100' away, another by Rona a block away, another a mile away which I think he just bought, or its their son. Dont need much space to run a biz like that. Rent is cheap, labor is cheap too. Unskilled, but I think that owner got rid of a few, or moved them I dunno. TBH I like Mr Sub better, because the one I go to, the owner works it and he is 2nd or 3rd gen Russian in Canada. He is right next to two big bars.

Subway's really gone downhill in the UK in recent years. It was never great, but it's got so much worse.

I went into one the other day to grab something quick to eat ang go. Fucking £3 for a simple 6" sub, wasn't worth that any day of the week. Tables were dirty, store front looked outdated, food prep counter was dirty (allergy central), and no toilet paper in the toilets, had to wipe my bum with blue hand towels that my mate had to put under the door.

I quit going to Subway because most of their employees (including some in management) didn't know how to cut open a bun properly (for crying out loud, it's not like it's rocket science) and customer service had been going downhill. I've been getting plain roast beef sandwiches from Arby's and they have been pretty good (because of dietary restrictions, I always get takeout and provide my own condiments) plus the customer service during the day on weekdays has been excellent. Their French "Drips" (which is what they do when I eat them) without the Swiss (I don't like their so called Cheddar Cheese sauce, either) are also pretty good. The Arby's sandwiches have a beeter meat to bread ratio than Subway's subs.

The only thing I ever get from Taco Bell are their tacos. And that's usually only three or four times a year.

When on the road, I try to avoid the chains we have at home. Some of the Mom and Pop joints are pretty good.

Also the chicken at Subway, is half soy.

I used to work at a subway, this was and still is a huge myth.  I suppose I can't speak for pre-2006 ish but when I worked there, the soy content was 2% or less. US/Canadian ingredient lists are readily available today.

Cracker Barrel or Bob Evans when I stay in state.

Oh funny, I only ever go to Cracker Barrel on the road.

Their lemon pepper grilled rainbow trout is really good.

I don't have Subway too often, but I usually get some form of BLT when I go.

I'm a bit of a sucker for fish, ever had Northern Pike? I've never found it in a restaurant which really bothers me.

I like Cracker Barrel though, the food is pretty good.

Well there have been a few covert purchases from Subway and they sent samples to several different labs, and they all came back as half soy. If you could insert a cheap product into an expensive product, then mold it into the shape of the expensive product and make 100's of millions then who wouldnt do that. The governments dont do jack shit about it either!
