There's a "hobby" section, but I don't think it would be used enough. If you need to post something on 3D printing, check in the "hobby" section.

While this would be a great addition, I don't see the value in its inclusion when it won't be used by many users.

Hobby subforum already has 3d printing hardware and best people to recommend software. For CAD, general Software forum already gives as good answers as you can get on tech oriented forum. Animation is probably fitted under Photo- & Videography subforum.

Probably because Hobby section was added during forum upgrade. Before that Modding would have been closest,

As a CAD technician my opinion is a bit biased, but I think it'd be cool to have a sub forum for it.

 

I'm not sure there's enough interest in the topic to warrant it.
