Windows 10 pushes notifcaitons to remind you to watch the Superbowl and to purchase snacks.

Yep so this is a thing. All 3 of my 10 machines got it. 

This is different from their normal ads which are for microsoft products like office, so I felt the need to make a news topic to bitch about it. 

I really think these notifications are crossing the line.

I have all of the notifications off and I even did some registry settings to disable them, but every update magically they are back on, and i still get the ads with them off.  

Do we not own our own computers anymore? 

 

muh specs 

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it. 

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff. 

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

you do own your computer which means you can choose what you put on it if you don't like whats on it change it go compile a linux kernel you can make sure there's no pop ups

I do run linux on one. This is my gaming computer and HTPC however. Though on the other 2 10 machines I'm thinking of rolling back to 8 at least. I kept one of my laptops on it and I find myself liking it more.

Yep thats pretty much your only choice though i haven't seen any of those pop ups though i have edge and cortana disabled which those pops ups seem to be related to

I have cortona disabled but last nights update turned it on on my lock screen, not kidding.  When you log in it still says its disabled. Haven't disabled edge but it's not default. Maybe I should do something there.

I used to like it but each year I give less of a shit. It's fun to watch but I don't have time to keep up with it.

I wish Microsoft would just get sued already...

It is obvious that they are just trying to see how much shit they can get away with at this point.

 

The next step in Microsoft's plan is probably to sell dildos. They will go from figuratively fucking their customers, to literally fucking their customers.

its lime Microsoft just reverts any registery tweeking you have done every time you update... its annoying AF. atelast i dont get these because im in Sweden

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

yah that would probably be a good idea. im just wishing for Vulkan to beat the shit out of DX12 so we can move over to Linux. im getting pretty sick of Microsofts shit

I have never ever seen such thing on my SP4. And I have all telemetry on,including Cortana. Don't ask why. It's my second laptop/entertainment tablet btw. I wish it can remind me to go to sleep instead lol..
