Personally don't care much about it, don't watch shitflix or anything like it and doubt that something like YouTube would get such type of DRM and I mean why would it even need it anyway.

There is an arrow in the top right corner. When an update is pending it either becomes visible or it turns green, then yellow then I think red depending on how long you've been avoiding the update. Of course this only really works if you keep your browser open all the time as the thing updates the moment you close it with no pop-ups or anything.

It won't be built-in Chromium since these DRM components are not open source, so I doubt Opera and Vivaldi will have them always enabled. Google are those who constantly add, remove and change features without giving any options.

For example, I don't see why they disabled the backspace key to go back, without giving the users an option, removed chrome://memory or why they keep the smooth scrolling option only as a flag. I presume the flag will get removed and the users will get forced to use Chrome's jaggy "smooth" scrolling.

exactly it might be encrypted in transit and in multiple parts of the system but somewhere, probably ram, it has to remove the encryption for you to see it.

You say this like every trade agreement the US is trying to get signed with people (TPP and whatever the NA/EU one is called) doesn't have DMCA like wording.  The US basically said accept our stupid copyright laws or don't trade with the US.  Our corporate overlords are doing everything in their power to spread their power.  Fight it while you can.

I was aware, but with how much things have been changed up and reversed then redone in the last 2 weeks, lol, I figured it was safer to aim wide.  And as we have seen here in the US, the companies don't ever fail to get the changes they want, they just get delayed (such as SOPA getting killed, then brought back under different names until it finally got passed).

It's been in Firefox for some time, but you can disable it. Mozilla will never follow Google and force a proprietary DRM. It's there, just because some video streaming websites require it.

It's also outdated and lost mainstream support, meaning that the only IE updates are going to come are security patches. Only reason it's in Win10 is because there are some pages and services that work better under IE than Edge.

Pretty much all modern DRM keeps the files encrypted in RAM. Hell, I am pretty sure this relies on HDCP so it is encrypted all the way into your monitor. Not even the signal that goes over the cable to your monitor is fully decrypted.

Firefox is open source too, if you think that's the reason why Chromium won't be affected.
