The billionaire tech mogul and social-media secret-spiller says he plans on building a Hyperloop test facility to guide the design of high-speed pods. And he wants to have an annual student Hyperloop pod-racing series, like Formula SAE for Jetsons-style future-tech.

 

The Hyperloop, you’ll recall, is Musk’s pie-in-the-sky idea for a superfast commuter train that could hit 760 mph traveling in a low-pressure vacuum tube. Announced to the world in the summer of 2013, Musk says such a system could blast passengers from L.A. to San Francisco in 30 minutes, and cost less than California’s way, way slower commuter train project.

 

Since then, we haven’t heard much more about the project—perhaps because Musk has been occupied running companies that make electric cars and reusable spaceships. But today, the mad scientist blasted this daydream out to his 1.44 million Twitter followers

Eh his cars were hyped because they were battery powered and can save the earth even tho those plants making the batteries are probs worse than cars on our roads today. The mars thing is pretty meh NASA has been to mars in the 1960s and who knows how much more they have done that hasn't been told like they put humans on it back then pretty sure they never told anyone that. Also there is that tv show who wants to put people on mars too so with or without him we probs would have been going to mars around this time anyway. as for the hyperloop maybe he can get some credit on that since ive never heard of it before he mentioned it but other people may have.

So did NASA and pretty sure does now. Read my post above about tesla. Paypal is decent and hyperloop is a cool theory but hasnt been proven yet.

1. Those factories are regulated by international laws, and employ US workers, not some chinese children like other car companies
2. conspiracy theory much? Nasa sent a few probes and robots to mars, but thats it.
3. Elon Musk is probably one of the greatest people alive at this time (along with Gates and some others) who actually tries to advance the science and culture, instead of just stuffing his pockets with money from reinvented crap

I see what you mean, but the cool thing is that its all funded privately and he could be doing the whole corporate dick move thing, but instead he's pushing of things that would most likely take longer to realise he's making happen just that much faster. IMO.
