Needed one more HDD to fill up my Proraid box for a full 24TB of storage goodness. Bought a 6TB Seagate Ironwolf NAS drive as I'd found that I was fast filling up the other three HDD's in the box. While I was in my spare room and the desk there did not have space for my Rokit5 G3's, I'd also gotten a pair of very......very cheap speakers so that I'd not have to resort to using my headphones everytime I wanna watch a video. When compared to the tinny sounding crap on my monitor, the Edifier R12U sounds pretty good actually....

Technically not a purchase (birthday gift), but I just got this OptiPlex 7010 all set up to replace my 760 for a Plex box. Later on when I can afford to get a big boy NAS that does Plex, I'll be getting a 3770 and 1050Ti LP for this dude. :)

Right now my parts include the 7570 and the two HDDs. Parallel card is only there to fill the hole since I don't have any ventilated (or solid, for that matter) brackets.

Got a second set of Corsair 64GB DDR4 3000MHz Red LED (CMU64GX4M4C3000C15R) for the system today. The plan was to fill all 8 dimm slots and have the max 128GB of ram. Problem is that both 64GB kits work fine individually, but the system doesn't post when both kits are used at the same time.

Will test them again after the next motherboard bios upgrade... fingers crossed.

Man I would KILL for a 4K TV. Current Samsung 1080p one isn't bad, but the pixel arrangement is terrible if you sit any less than 4-5 feet away, so when I'm in bed it doesn't look that great. TV I'm looking at is the LG 43UJ6300 and holy balls batman is it solid for being so cheap. Input latency in 4K 60Hz 4:4:4 is actually slightly less than that quantum dot? TV that everyone seemed to go nuts over, and after seeing one IRL the picture is pretty darn good too for being a cheaper IPS panel.

Hmmm, almost looks like the Samsung one me and my Mom bought during a sale earlier this year(went 50/50 on it).

Once you get it calibrated, the Samsungs are not bad.

Looky, looky what showed up in the mail.  :D Did a trade for this with cash.  I can't complain since I got a good deal on this.  I can't wait to get this into my F@H/BOINC 24/7 rig.  Definitely going to do some compare runs between this and my 5960X on crunching BOINC units.  Just hope the air cooler can handle the heat output.

Why dominator platinum?  o.O Isn't it usually far more expensive for no reason?

It came with the trade deal.  So, I am not going to complain since I traded a GPU with 600 bucks for all of that.

I may later sell that kit if I can find a good deal on a 32GB or 64GB kit for the Threadripper.

Its a shock to see 4k content for the first time, i went to the store and they were looping a few 4k videos from Marques Brownlee (which is really rare, i only seen they do that once) on this very model of screen.

I tell you, i could see the pores of his skin from about 10 meters away, even when i got closer i couldn't see the pixels on the screen, its just something else!

I heard people from AVSForums talk about problems with motion intensive content (such as games) on the previous model of this screen (MU6300) but i can't say the MU6100 retained the problems, its a very fast screen, even without game mode on.

All I've seen are the normal LG and Samsung demo BluRays, but holy dicks they're impressive nonetheless. I'd love to actually get my own and just play random shit in 4K, since the PC hooked up to my TV right now is capable of it (oddly an i3 3240 sits at like half usage and butter smooth while my massively OC'd G3258 sits at 100% and occasional stutters).

4k streaming looks pretty good, but 4k Blu rays w/hdr are mind-blowing on a panel with 10 bit HDR.

I can only imagine what it'd be like to actually own your own stuff to dick around with. The one friggin Samsung model that was at my Best Buy was just mind blowing, but so was the price (a mere 6,200 USD).
