This sort of thing has always been around.  There just is no large scale need for them so there aren’t very many, which also makes them pricier.  It’s usually enterprise stuff For when some on site worker needs more power than is possible with a laptop.  They’re generally ruggedized.  High end surveying maybe?  I dunno.  The people that need them will know.

My thoughts

Quite strange to be able to bring around a computer with these horsepowers, however it can be used to work on-site (i.e. update a realtime application on the fly, CAD, ...).

A bit worried about the temps and cooling system though.
